Alnawab has been my local source of indian cuisine for maybe the last 5 years simply because they seem to be more consitant than other resturants in the area, most dishes vary in taste, strengh and heat and reflect what is described within the menu. when it comes to food it needs to be consistant and thats even more so important when it comes to idian cuisine using delicate spices and strong flavours to suit everyones taste. But , after 5 years i have to say that consistency is becoming an issue. Ive tried many dishes over the years which i have enjoyed and have my favourite but when my favourite turns up and is twice as hot as usual its a shame ,,,, my favourite is madras but this was more like a vindalloo/phall , smothered in chillies twice as many as usual , i like hot but the inconsistancies must stop or i will look elsewhere or even stop eating indian cuisine untill i find one that can give consitant food.To supply a dish (Madras hot) which is impossible to eat after 5 years of having a real good one is a real shame as i love this resturant. Hope it improves but ill be leaving it a few months before i deal with alnawab again im not fond of throwing my hard earned cash...
Read morewe ate here one Friday night at 8.00pm , free car park over the road , unconventional website didn't make it clear it was unlicensed. we were greeted and shown to our table and that was the first and last interaction with any of the staff outside of ordering our food. supermarket poppadoms ( one each ) and three watered down dips. The mixed starter was a little on the small side but tasted good. The chapattis were shop bought and a huge let down , but the chicken tikka bhuna curry was really tasty . We were left to sit for 20 minutes after the table was cleared until the bill was plonked on the table , no interaction at all ? we got up , payed and left , nothing was said to us at all. we left at 9.30 pm and the place was packed so they must be pleasing a lot of people . The bill (no drinks) for 3 people was £57 , maybe they trade on being a...
Read moreVisited for the first time after local recommendations. It was pretty disappointing The mains were decent, we had two curries But it was the service that was off putting, it took about 20 minutes for even a drink order to be taken ( we didn’t realise they weren’t licensed so this could be clearer), then when we got our starters the staff came over whilst we were still eating to ask if we were ready for the mains. The mains then came and my order was wrong, they did rectify this pretty quickly which I appreciate. The cutlery was dirty and the napkins had marks on them. It did seem the staff only catered for people who were clearly regulars. I don’t think we’ll be returning which is...
