Ravello Cafe & Delicatessen — Restaurant in Kirklees

After reading so many glowing reviews, I decided to try Ravello for myself. I ordered a chai latte and feta, hummus and pepper sandwich. Upon trying the chai latte, I realized it wasn't a chai latte at all but a normal coffee. When I tried the sandwich, there was not a single piece of feta or sliver of hummus to be found. Rather, it was a handful of lettuce and tomato drenched in copious amounts of slimy mayonnaise.

The bread, already tough and stale, was soaked through and soggy by the sheer amount of mayonnaise. Eating the sandwich was like biting into tough carpet which transitioned into a sickening crunch of wet lettuce absolutely slathered in the white gunk.

I am absolutely appalled at the experience I have had at Ravello today. The items I received in my order were so far from the description that it cannot be an accident: it was a malicious decision by the staff to deceive their customer. I was going to a meeting in the area, and not being local I checked out the cafes online. This place had a good reputation and the welcoming decor was a plus. Arriving, you see the chef in clean whites at work and the waitress busy taking orders, so that was a promising welcome.

Totally worth taking the chance, the menu pricing's not cheap as chips but you get what you paid for and everything's nicely presented, with the staff keeping up good banter with their customers.

The tables weren't cramped together either, which is something that smaller restaurants tend to do, sadly. It's a small thing but it makes places like this feel more homely and inviting.

Great cafe. Took my 7 year old there for lunch and was very impressed with the quality and quantity of the food which was superbly presented and very tasty Really nice smoothies and cakes too. Highly recommend as the best cafe in Mirfield more so than other recent additions. Update - Went here on Sat 14th April and had what I would regard as the best mozzarella and pesto panini I've ever eaten, the chips are proper chips with the skin on and straight out the fryer and the portion sizes are very generous.
