Mozzarellas Pizzeria & Wine Bar — Restaurant in Kirklees

I recently visited and although the food was good (minus some burnt chicken) the same cannot be said about the service unfortunately. I did send a complaint via email on 02/10/22 which was ignored sadly. Pasted below.

Good Evening,

I am saddened to have to make a complaint about the service we have received this evening (02/10) booking for 4 people at 17:30.

We arrived and booked to sit in the main restaurant. The waitress told us our table was in the corner and literally pointed to the table we were sat at.

Not at the fault of the restaurant, but we were sat directly next to a party of around 15 who allowed their children to practically run up and down the length of the room and persistently stood behind my chair banging on the window making our overall experience both loud and extremely frustrating. As mentioned previously I understand this isn’t the fault of the restaurant but never the less the customer could’ve been asked politely that their children sit down in a nice way.

My dish arrived which was the chicken and chorizo risotto, both the chicken and chorizo was burnt.

Our empty dishes were left on the table for around 10 minutes without the waitress clearing our table or offering to bring the children’s sundaes so I had to go up to the counter, but to pay the bill. The waitress didn’t ask if everything was okay with our meal and also failed to recognise we didn’t order the sundaes.

Overall I am extremely disappointed as when I have been previously the service was nothing short of excellent but on this occasion the customer service was very very poor.

I booked this on Sat night for my husband and I. We arrived a few mins ahead of our booking and were told we'd be seen shortly. We waited 10mins and were told our table wasn't ready, but that we could have a seat at the bar tables and could order food there, but I'd booked a table in the restaurant as I didn't want to be sat on a stool. When I asked how long the wait would be, they said 30mins and served takeaway customers faster than we were served. We had rushed over from Bakewell to make the booking on time, being told we'd have to wait 30mins for our table with no intention of them compensating us for our time, was just unacceptable. I'm sure their food is nice, but sadly never got to try it and doubt we ever will now. I'd say don't bother booking - they don't keep to bookings anyway. You're probably better off walking in like the couple before us who were still sat on our table for our booking...

Crowded and noisy with no music. Too many tables. We were jammed in next to a large family table which meant being pushed to one side by ill mannered children who were constantly in and out of their seats. This however didn't spoil the evening for their equally ill mannered parents who seemed to have no control over them whatsoever. One screaming small child seemed to be a source of entertainment to them (possibly due to the lack of music). My partner (a vegetarian) ordered the Minestrone Soup only to discover when it arrived that it contained meat. The garlic mushrooms, which I ordered, also contained meat (bacon) although it did state this on the menu. My partners main was a vegetarian pizza which for reasons unknown had balsamic vinegar poured over it. I had the pork carbonara which I have to say was very nice. Atmosphere poor. Service good.
