Oh dear, oh dear, when this establishment opened I was one of the first to walk through its doors and it blew my mind at how much effort not to mention money had been spent in getting the interior spot on! As I only lived a few hundred yards away I called in a few times and enjoyed the coffee and cakes but never had food there. Having moved out of the area I returned after several months and although it's still very appealing I'm afraid the food let's it down big time! And looking at the reviews it seems quite an unimportant part of the business as many reviews are almost identical in their nature. I had the breakfast (£8.99) and honestly believed they'd brought me a child's portion! After the initial shock I actually looked at what i had been served which included a burned sausage cut in half to make it look like 2 on the plate, 2 rashers of small bacon, a teaspoon of beans I slice of toast halved and an egg that resembled my granddaughter's play doh food! I sent it back and waited and waited and waited, eventually the breakfast returned and so did the play doh egg! I was refunded the whole bill which was something at least however that morning I left with an empty stomach and reflected that yes the decor is nice but the adage is correct in "all that glitters is not gold" I agree it's been tough over the last couple of years for businesses but cutting back and not caring won't put bums on seats. Maybe it's time for the owners to read the reviews about the food and not rely on the ones who state it's a great coffee shop....if that's what you are then don't put up food menus. I really do hope it changes as I have an affinity with my home town of Mirfield and the people who live...

Read moreWHAT A SHAMBLES. This used to be my favourite coffee house, but not anymore. I'm in my 60's and live on my own and don't get out much, so when this new coffee house opened up near where I live, I was so excited. It's a place where I could meet my friends regularly for a coffee and a chat. The staff were friendly and the coffee was good.
Unfortunately in recent weeks my experience here has been disappointing. The coffee isn't consistent, some days it's ok and some days it's just pure lousy, but it's never excellent, which might be due to the fact there seems to be a huge turnover in staff. This place is run by 16/17 year olds with no work ethic, no enthusiasm and no good manners. The service is slow and shoddy and certainly not worth the 10/15 minutes wait. Lately, I've sensed an atmosphere on numerous occasions and as I chat to some of the girls on a regular basis, what I've heard and seen has changed my views on this establishment.
The management need to have a good close look at themselves and turn this shambles of a place around asap, otherwise this place will become an empty shell very soon. And the staff need to be trained, looked after and respected.
Needless to say my friends and I have found a new meeting point in Mirfield so will not be visiting "Tamp and Steam" ever...
