Coors Ā£4.80 a pint when I popped in mid afternoon one Friday in May (2024). Nice lady outside doing some planting gave me a cheerful hello, I seemed too much trouble for everyone else šŸ˜”. I actually thought place was closed but they'd left the door open...

Had a falafel burger and it was tasty though the salad could be a bit boring for a veggie.šŸ˜… Super friendly staff, nice atmosphere, very cozy and dog friendly. Will definitely go again.

1st visit and definitely not the last. Amazing value for money. The food was really tasty and more than decent portions. Looking forward to trying the rest of the menu.

What a pity! We've had several lovely meals at The Star and the long wait time for food has not been an issue (we were prepared). The service staff were very good, if a little bit timid. Eight of the ten meals were spot on. Unfortunately, the steak was very well done versus requested medium-rare and my son's cheeseburger had no cheese. The solution to the cheeseburger was to give us a pot of grated cheese and the steak was re-done. We were told it would take 10 mins for the steak, but in reality it was closer to 20 mins (for a medium-rare steak)! This meant everyone had finished their meals before the steak arrived... others in the establishment getting their meals before the second steak arrived. When the bill arrived, there was zero acknowledgement and the bill was full at £241. I suggested that the bill should be amended, which led to a very patronising conversation with the owner who clearly thought I was simply trying it on to get a discount (£25 off £241 is not that significant). All I was doing was highlighting that the meal was impacted by the delayed steak and that it was not 10 mins we had to wait. A simple apology and even a drink knocked off the bill would have been easy to do and appropriate. We would then come back because we did...

Our 3rd Walking Group Meal at The Star & once again excelled in service & quality. Many thanks to Ian & Amy for managing the booking who were happy to add people at short notice & adjusting the menu to suit any dietary needs. Amy, Chloe & the 2 Smart young Men who quickly served 30+ drinks & followed with the meals with great efficiency. The food was Quality as everyone commented - thank you Chefs. Our group came from all over Yorkshire & commented what a lovely large airy space for a group meal up the slightly raised area along with a more intimate conservatory for smaller groups & couples - Well done The Star & do highly recommend -:Thank You. The Star's been around for years in various guises. With a bar, dining room and function room.

Visited recently for a funeral tea. The pub now has a conservatory set up for food, a bar area and seating for drinkers that doubles for eating.

Decor is light and airy and the seating is a mixture of fixed upholstered areas and both upholstered and solid chairs. All are quite comfortable.

A buffet was provided and was ample and very tasty. Cooked meats were excellent.

On this showing I'll probably go back for a more 'normal' visit. As it is I...
