Birthday meal for 6 people. Seated straight away. Staff were lovely and attentive. Ordered Tawa for 5 people. It was huge and had more than enough food for probably 8 people. We took loads home with us because we couldn’t manage it all. We tried :) On the tawa: Chicken tikka - tender and juicy pieces of chicken in a delicate marinade cooked over a grill. Chicken wings - crispy, charcoal grilled and delicious Seekh kebab - meat, they were not filled out with a ton of flour or breadcrumbs. Succulent and spicy. Lamb chops - not too spicy, tender and charcoal grilled Masala fish - lovely crispy outer, delicious warm flavour and perfectly cooked Rice - pilau with chickpeas, went great with the curries although I think for 5 people there could prob be a bit more rice if I’m honest Chicken curry - had a lovely flavour to it. Not too spicy and the chicken was not over cooked Lamb curry - on the bone, equally nice, had a lovely fish sauce to it Naan and tandoori roti - lots of this which suited us perfectly. Chips - some had soaked up the sauce from the curries and were absolutely to DIE for. They might have only been chips but god they were so good in that sauce 😂♥️ Normally there’s donner meat on the tawa as well but we asked for this to be replaced as none of us eat it. This was done without question. Complimentary kawa (traditional fennel tea) was served at the end of the meal and they provided us with boxes to pack up and take the leftovers home. Honestly I don’t have a bad thing to say, which is not usual for me as I’m quite brutal when it comes South Asian cooking. If you’re in. Batley/ Dewsbury then swing by. You won’t be disappointed. We paid £85 for our meal and drinks and had so much to take home too. Worth...
Read moreThe Tawa House is a great restaurant for a meal out with a large group of people. They specialise in serving a large platter of delicious food in a large round dish, known as a ‘Tawa’ in asian languages. We love this concept and we love the food at Tawa House. It’s something different from your average restaurant.
Their is no traditional food menu here. You are only asked the size of the Tawa you require, and based on the number of people you have, they will serve you a Tawa or Tawas accordingly. There is however a separate drinks menu.
On each sizzling hot Tawa, you are served the following: Karahi Gosht, Boneless chicken Curry, Donner slices, Sheesh Kebab, Chops, Chicken Wings, Fish Pakoras, Chips and Naan. There is a lot of food severed and some is usually left over. However, if you like anyone particular item, and can always order more at extra cost.
As well as your Tawa, they also have a complimentary salad/sauce bar and bowls to fill up and take to your table.
After you have finished, you are served with nice hot Qahwa Tea.
A private section is also available for those families who would like privacy.
As the restaurant is located on a busy main road, their is no dedicated car park. You can however find plenty of on street parking nearby. Card payments are accepted here.
Tawa House is HMC Approved so you have nothing to worry about.
We really enjoyed the experience at Tawa House and would definitely recommend visiting here. Our...
Read moreWe have visited this place a few times before but this time we went the ownership and management had changed. We called before going and booked a table for two. Waited a few minutes in the lobby and then got seated. The place was very busy, as expected on a weekend. Before we were seated we asked for a highchair and then had to ask for one again when we got to our seats- it arrived eventually. Waiter came and took our order (tawa for two) and brought us our poppadoms to start with and drinks. One of the poppadoms tasted burnt so we asked for it to be replaced and that was done so happily by the waiter. We then waited for our food and realised other tables that had ordered after us were now receiving their food. So we asked and were told they would check on it. Upon checking they realised our order had not been put in to the kitchen and so we had been missed out completely. The owner was apologetic and came over a fair few times to ask if there was anything else we wanted. (Food had still not arrived) over an hour later our food arrived. The food itself was lovely and flavourful, portion size was great too and hot when it came. We were offered nothing in way of compensation for our hour wait apart from an apology and an excuse as to how understaffed and busy they were for the...
