Derby Lodge Table Table — Restaurant in Knowsley

We go here quite often as it’s close to home & friends often stay @hotel when visiting. We have had many good meals & service over the years but last few times have not been so good. Recently booked a table for 3 over phone, when we arrived booking had not been put on system so no table available. Lady front of house didn’t apologise, didn’t appear confident in dealing with lack of booking & went to look for another staff member. We then sat in main bar where you can order off same menus at the bar. Area was chilly (was a cold night outside) table near door by bar. Kept my scarf on. Starters were good & hot. Mains took ages to arrive, Son enjoyed his curry tho said there was more sauce than meat, the cluck & Ale burger was huge, & was really good, my steak was as tuff as, & overcooked (asked for medium) It is the 1st meal I have ever returned to any kitchen when eating out. I had it replaced by a fresh cooked meal though steak still wasn’t the best. When I approached lady at front of house re the meal she went to speak to the manager, who was apologetic & took my meal away, tho this left the bar unstaffed, Gentleman who took my booking over phone did come to table & apologise for mix up table not being booked when food served. Disappointed, Place needs to be better staffed, I know the staff who wait on are always kept busy & have always been polite & friendly. Heating on a cold night, & either a re paint or a long pole feather duster, & big bowl of flash as starting to look grubby & dusty. It is a lovely place & like I said we have had good meals & nights there in the past, but to keep customers coming back, it needs to step...

Ordered food and waited 30 mins.... Still no food. Asked at the bar "how long will our food be". Was told it would be a few mins. Waited another 10 minutes and then went back to the bar again to enquire how long our food would be as the place was pretty empty. Told the server that we had been waiting 40 mins and thinking she was clever and gonna show us that we hadn't been waiting that long she read the time out that we ordered......... Turns out we had been waiting 43 mins for a steak and chips and a couple of mixed grills. Unfortunately the server got offended that we had dared to inquire about our food and came back with " Well do you just want me to cancel it then!?" Wow attitude or what!?? There was no "sorry for your wait" or "would you like another drink?" Or "I'll just check on it for you". It was straight on the defensive as if we were in the wrong. Oh and if you swear because you're hungry and getting nothing but attitude then you'll be told that "we don't appreciate being sworn at". It's a shame because from what I eventually tasted of the steak it was pretty good. Unfortunately I'd lost my appetite with the unnecessary drama from the bum hurt young ones behind the bar and only ate my steak (I had waited now 45-50 mins for it. Luckily the (I assume) manager was apologetic and refunded the meal that wasn't eaten so he was sound, he should teach the others his good customer...

Popped in hungry after along day after work 18:10 20 July 2022 for burger deal half price as per e mail - - staff stated I had to book and needed a code - i checked e-mail and showed it to staff but they still refused - I left the bar and took a seat to double check - then another member of staff approached me and stated I can have a burger and that the assistant manager/bar supervisor had lied - clearly lied - what a disgrace to lie to customers over a bloody burger - the place is pathetic -avoid at all cost - - nasty lying staff.

Booked a table and before even sat down in an empty bar area was told we only have 1 hour and 45 mins - in an empty bar - !!!! - - - we were the only 2 people sat there for the duration - we had asked to sit in the bar area as didnt fancy sitting in the restaurant we just wanted a bite to eat - the Derby Lodge is very COVID strict - cant touch pint glasses plates all a bit much for me im afraid - meal was sparse - I could count the 14 chips - absolutley no atmosphere totally dead and was glad to get out - I have been a regular here for years but wont be visiting again for a long time. and until they treat customers like...
