Has anyone seen the Ricky Gervais scene in Afterlife when he tries to buy a child’s portion each for himself and his young nephew in a cafe? He simply isn’t that hungry. They refuse to serve him until he finally says his nephew will actually order 2 child portions in that case. It’s very funny and obviously pointing out quite how ridiculous it is to refuse to serve you the size of portion you’d prefer, because you’re not a child. They actually do this at Bay view. We go here often and today went as a family of 6 for brunch. One of our party has a very small appetite. They wanted to try the pancakes but knowing it’s a large portion, asked if they could have the child portion. ‘No sorry. Very strict rules in place about that’ we were told. Nobody likes to waste food or feel over faced so they opted for a toasted tea cake instead. We ended up spending less money. Where is the sense in that?
