Cinnamon Spice is a small (and, given the modern trend for micro-pubs, perhaps we might be justified in calling Cinnamon Spice a micro-) restaurant, providing sustenance and service to residents of, and visitors to, the seaside village of Silverdale and its environs. Living in Kendal as I do, Silverdale is not necessarily the most obvious, or convenient, of destinations for a night out. However, the combination of Cinnamon Spice, the Woodlands Hotel, the newly-refurbished Royal Hotel, plus the new tenants in the Silverdale Hotel, give you a lot more scope for finding something to your taste than many similar small villages.
The current staff in the restaurant seem to be the present generation of a family (or at least a family group) of Indian Restaurateurs from the Keighley area. In my estimation, they are brilliant at what they do. On one occasion, about a year ago (at the time of the Woodlands Beer Festival) we went in to book a table for later that evening. The guy behind the counter took the booking, said he would see us later, and as we departed said: 'And we'll have the aloo channa ready'. I had not immediately recognised him, but when I looked again it was one of the lads (albeit not so much a lad now, some years having passed) who used to work at the British Raj in Kendal. He remembered me from years back, and remembered that my favourite side dish was aloo channa. I was very impressed with his memory! Anyway, suffice to say that the staff are friendly, chatty, informative about the food, and often run off their feet because it's only a small place.
The menu is good, with all of the dishes being available as a mixed vegetable alternative, which is very handy as my wife and I are vegetarian. While I cannot claim to have visited every Indian Restaurant in the country, I have been to a good few over the years, and I would be hard-pressed to separate Cinnamon Spice out of my top three favourites. A massive benefit in its favour is, of course, the fact that you can bring your own alcohol. If you arrive at the restaurant without, there is a Co-Op next door, with a very respectable stock of wine and beer, and also a cash-point - very useful, as Cinnamon Spice is a cash-only restaurant.
All-in-all, five stars,...
Read moreWe are currently on a little break and decided to go for tea at this place as me and my husband visited when on our honeymoon in 2018! I originally booked a table for 3 people and said we would have a baby with us and asked if there was any high chairs, high chairs wasn’t available so I said it’s okay I’ll bring the pram in. We arrived for our slotted time to then be told our table was booked but it was up a flight of stairs! My mother in law is disabled and can not climb a flight of stairs and we also said on the phone when booking we would have a pram! How do they expect a disabled woman to climb up a flight of stairs and carry a pram up??? so they offered us a takeaway. There was no room to be sat downstairs as other customers were booked in! Really they should of put the other customers upstairs if they wasn’t disabled obviously and let us have the table downstairs! This resulted in us leaving very disappointed! We left with out eating or getting a takeaway! Appalling customer service!!!! Will not be...
Read moreWe visited Cinnamon for a meal whilst staying at Holgates holiday park (1mile away) and booked a table for 6. It’s quite a small place so booking definitely recommended I would say probably 8-10 tables. The toilet is actually outside of the restaurant but to my surprise it was exceptionally clean so no issue for us. They don’t serve alcohol so you are allowed to take your own and just pay for soft drinks. We had poppadoms, 3 starters, 4 curries, 2 naan bread, 2 rice and 1 chips and it all came to less than £80. Absolutely fantastic value and every dish tasted amazing and unique. If your in silverdale and want a curry, I can highly recommend this place. We’ll done to all the team at Cinnamon. Other thing to note is parking is at a premium so set off a little earlier to get a space without rushing. They were also very busy with...
