Review: The Blossom Bird, Silverdale, UK
Nestled in the heart of Silverdale, The Blossom Bird is a charming little café that feels like stepping into a warm hug. From the moment you walk in, the scent of freshly brewed coffee and homemade cake wraps around you like a cozy blanket. The décor is rustic-chic—think mismatched teacups, fairy lights, and potted plants that may or may not have names.
The staff are genuinely lovely. Friendly without being overbearing, they give the place that "local favorite" energy. I ordered a flat white and a slice of their lemon drizzle cake, which was borderline spiritual. The coffee was smooth, with just enough punch to remind you it’s not messing around, and the cake? Moist, zingy, and exactly what I needed after a long walk on the coast.
There’s also a small gift shop area with handmade crafts, which I highly recommend browsing. I left with a hand-knit tea cozy and no regrets.
BUT.
And this is a big but.
As I stepped out into the fresh Silverdale air, basking in my post-cake glow, I encountered... it. A slug. Not just any slug. A BIG, NASTY SLUG. At first, it seemed harmless—slow, squishy, pathetic. But looks can be deceiving.
It launched a full-scale assault on my foot. Slime everywhere. I swear it smirked. I panicked. Slipped. May have screamed. There was a minor altercation. I'm not saying I lost, but let’s just say the slug is still out there, undefeated.
4.5/5 stars. Great café....
Read moreFirstly, I have just seen the bad review on here for the Blossom Bird - this is so blatantly a malicious review -why? Well as a resident of Silverdale the Blossom is the final piece to the Village centre jigsaw - it’s amazing, the coffee is genuinely the best I have had - so much care and attention to making the coffee and the cakes are superb. Myself and my mates call in every Saturday morning before our cycle trip, a Cortado and thick cut fresh brown toast sets us up nicely. Sam and the team have really brought a quality cafe to the centre of the village and I know loads of locals and passers through who not only enjoy it but make a beeline for it - its like Central Perk on a Saturday morning!! Secondly - No way would any local write that the Royal is better and i really can’t see visitors doing the same. I’m not having a go at the Royal, the Holgate’s provided the start of the jigsaw and its still a great place to go and sit and enjoy a pint or a bite to eat but seriously, its not even slightly close to the Blossom for care, attention, quality and atmosphere - its a caravan park cafe! Whoever you are George Peris with your 5 star Holgate’s review, go and troll someone else - the customers vote with their feet and the Blossom...
Read moreMy visit presented a fairly average experience, perhaps a 3.5 out of 5 overall. On the day I went, the cafe seemed quite busy, with just one staff member who was understandably working hard. I chose to wait outside after placing my order. The meat and potato pie featured generous amounts of mince, though I personally found the flavour a little subtle. Likewise, my sausage and bacon sandwich had quite a bit of bread, with the filling being less prominent. It's quite possible my experience was specific to that particular day. The cafe itself is on the smaller side, which could make moving around a bit snug. I also felt that some of the prices were a little on the higher side, with the jacket potato 'meal' nearing £10. Having only visited once during my stay nearby, it unfortunately wasn't quite the right fit for me, and I didn't return. However, others might find it suits...
