Mother Hubbard’s — Restaurant in Leeds

I want to commend the lady at the counter, who was polite and professional. However, my experience was overshadowed by what appeared to be poor management.

While I was dining at the back, I overheard the person I believe is the manager instructing the staff member to respect the customers at the front and to be careful while cleaning, seemingly ignoring my presence as a customer. Shortly after, the staff member began sweeping the floor near me, which I didn’t mind as it didn’t disrupt my experience that much. However, she then proceeded to mop using a strong-smelling substance, likely bleach. The odor became overwhelming, making it uncomfortable to stay and prompting me to leave 40 minutes before closing time with unfinished food.

This incident points to a lack of proper staff training and a disregard for customer comfort. Additionally, the manager’s unprofessional attitude to only some customers raises concerns. Addressing these issues would greatly benefit what otherwise has the potential to be an excellent...

I purchased fish and chips around 2 months ago, the fish was very small, like a kids fish and chips compared to other outlets, I thought this maybe a one one off, last month I thought I would threat the family again and yes it is a treat at well over 10 quid with a drink, this time I noticed again at the small size of the fish. I again thought that maybe another one off, as I have been using Harehills mother hubbards for years and it's always been very satisfying. This week I went in again for fish and chips and again I was not impressed. I think the owners are using a different supplier or cutting a piece off to make fish bites, the latter being more believable as the shape of the fish has changed. Had stopped coming here a couple of years ago due to poor service. Decided to see if they’d improved and went in yesterday. Whilst waiting for my order, I heard one member of staff shouting at the other, swearing at her- appalling! Then watched two customers, who arrived after me, receive their orders first. It wasn’t until a third customer was receiving his order when I asked about my order. The staff frying up did apologise but it just shows the service is still rubbish. Took the fish and chips home and the food was cold and needed warming up- who knows how long they had been sitting there and would have remained unbooxed if I hadn’t spoken up.
