If you're craving a meal that delivers bold South Asian flavors and makes you feel right at home, this spot checks every box. From the first bite to the final sip, everything was thoughtfully prepared — and the warm, welcoming staff made the experience even more memorable. Among all the standout dishes, three clear stars stole the show: the rich and aromatic biryani, the irresistible bun kebab, and the refreshing mango lassi. šŸ›Ā Biryani: Aromatic & Satisfying Served hot and fragrant, the biryani featured fluffy basmati rice layered with juicy, spice-infused chicken, flavorful potato and caramelized onions. Each forkful delivered balanced heat and depth of flavor. Accompanied by raita, it was generous, filling, and deeply comforting. šŸ”Ā Bun Kebab: Bold, Soft & Perfect This bun kebab nails it with a perfectly soft, fresh bun that gently cushions a juicy, flavorful patty. Every bite bursts with spices and a hint of tangy chutney, fried egg and balanced by crisp onions. It’s the perfect combo of tender, savory, and satisfying — street food done with heart. 🄭 Mango Lassi: Creamy Refreshment in a Glass Thick, cold, and made with mangoes, this lassi was the ideal counter to the heat of the meal. Sweet but not overwhelming, it had a smooth, yogurt-rich texture and just the right tang to cleanse the palate. It didn’t just cool things down — it elevated the entire experience. šŸ² Nihari: The nihari was hearty and flavorful, with melt-in-your-mouth lamb and a thick, meaty gravy. ā˜•Ā Matka Chai: The matka chai was rich and satisfying — a sweet finish to the meal. šŸ¤Ā Service & Hospitality The staff were warm, helpful, and clearly passionate about the food they serve. From customizing spice levels to making honest recommendations, their attention to detail and hospitality made the whole experience feel personal and welcoming. ✨ Beautiful Decor & Cozy Ambiance What really elevates the experience is the beautiful decor. The space is thoughtfully designed with warm lighting, ethnic accents, and a cozy vibe that makes you feel instantly welcome. It’s the perfect blend of street food charm and stylish comfort. Final Verdict: 10/10 If you're after a meal that’s equal parts flavorful and familiar, this bun kebab–biryani–lassi trio is your go-to. Come for the street-style charm, stay for the satisfying flavors — and don’t forget to bring your appetite.

Chicken Wings (Sweet and Spicy) Sindhi Biryani Mutton Nihari Haleem Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome, accompanied by the tantalising aroma of authentic spices wafting through the air. The ambience instantly transported us to the bustling streets of Pakistan, setting the stage for an exceptional dining experience. For starters, we indulged in the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Wings. Cooked to absolute perfection, they were beautifully tender and practically melted in the mouth. The balance of sweetness and spice was spot on, leaving us wanting more. Next came the Sindhi Biryani, one of the restaurant's signature dishes. The flavour profile was nothing short of incredible – rich, aromatic, and perfectly spiced. Each mouthful was a burst of authentic taste, so much so that it felt as though we were dining in Karachi rather than Leeds. Following that, we sampled the Haleem, which was nothing short of spectacular. The texture was smooth and hearty, and the flavours were robust and deeply satisfying. It’s easily one of the best versions of Haleem I’ve ever had outside of Pakistan – a true delight for the taste buds. Finally, we were served the Mutton Nihari. The meat was tender beyond words, practically disintegrating with each bite, while the luscious gravy was a symphony of spices that filled the mouth with warmth and flavour. It instantly transported me back to my last visit to Karachi, evoking fond memories of traditional dining experiences there. Each dish exceeded expectations, and the authenticity of the flavours was a testament to the skill and dedication of the chefs. A must-visit for anyone craving a genuine taste of Pakistan!

Last week, my family and I traveled to Leeds for a business meeting, and we decided to explore the city afterward. As it was my first time in Leeds, we were on the lookout for a desi restaurant, and that's when we came across Mr. Shapatar. The name immediately caught our attention, as it's a popular slang word from the streets of Karachi, where we are from. Curious about the connection, we decided to give it a try. To our delight, it was their opening day, and they were offering a 50% discount. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and the ambiance was perfect. We were thrilled to find Karachi’s authentic Aloo Biryani on the menu, which reminded me of the famous Burns Road Biryani. The Nihari was also spot on, just like the traditional Karachi Nihari. We ordered Biryani, Nihari, and Haleem, although there were many other options, we couldn't resist the authentic Karachi dishes. The freshly made naan served alongside the dishes added to the experience. I also had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Mr. Nabeil, a very down-to-earth person and a chartered accountant by profession. It was wonderful to chat with him and learn about his vision for the restaurant. Overall, it was an excellent dining experience, and I highly recommend Mr. Shapatar to anyone visiting Leeds. If you're craving authentic Karachi food, this place is a must-try!

Got a takeaway away yesterday 9th August 2025. Chicken biryani and Lamb nihari with Tandoori rotis and a naan. Biryani was delicious ( though very slightly hot for my taste ) The biryani portion was nice and generous. The Lamb nihari . The sauce was good however the lamb pieces were meagre in portion . Instead of lamb shank or large pieces of lamb the dish contained normal off cuts of lamb meat on the bone. Normal practice is full lamb shank or large pieces of lamb off the bone. The tandoori Rotis were standard , nothing to write home about. The naan was a bit heavy in consistency ie could have been a bit lighter and fluffy. So this was a little disappointing.

Thank you for your reply. In response to the meat in Nihari. I don't accept that the meat was lamb shank cut into pieces to ensure it fits into the container. You do not chop up the lamb shank into pieces. This defeats the object of having a lamb shank. Further more I have a bone that I have kept which does not appear to be part of a lamb shank. With regards the lamb shank not fitting into the container I would say that the container you use for biryani should suffice for this purpose. In addition I would add if you are having issues with lamb shank containers why not do what is normally done ? cook large pieces of boneless lamb and include bones with marrow for...
