Residence Cafe Bar Cookridge — Restaurant in Leeds

i ordered two portions of fluffy american pancakes this morning on uber eats, they looked absolutely delicious and as i’m a bit hungover i was quite excited to eat them. the price was rather extortionate for one but the beer goggles made it seem acceptable. they were lovely (probably not worth the £11.50 i spent on them) but there was a strange taste of onion every few bites. i just assumed it was a minor food prep issue and that someone had been chopping onions on the same surface that my food was prepared. i thought that until i took another bite into my pancakes and found RAW ONIONS!!! i have ibs and i can’t eat onions as they give me horrible stomach aches. thankfully i don’t think i ate enough to get ill however this is still an absolutely vile ingredient to find within my sweet pancakes. they were hidden inside them as well so i would never have known they were there until i had to take a bite which was a horrible experience that made me gag and spit out my food. this is completely unacceptable and from someone who works in a kitchen i do understand that it gets busy and mistakes are made but this is a cross contamination issue! i’m lucky it was only onions but if that were something else that could have been really dangerous! the food you serve to customers should only have ingredients that you have clearly stated on the menu, no secret onions hiding within!!! this was absolutely disgusting and i still feel nauseated. they would have been very nice otherwise but unfortunately i will not be ordering from this restaurant again as clearly i can’t trust what will be going into my food! i wouldn’t recommend the fluffy pancakes as you don’t know what secret ingredients you might find inside...

So, with the weather finally improving, we wanted to find a cute cafe, where we could enjoy the sun and have a late brunch.

This place was perfect for that!

It's a very nice, cute cafe with indoor and outdoor seating. We obviously chose outdoor, with the sun and it was perfection.

The service was great! Cannot be faulted at all, from start to finish. Staff were attentive, funny and quick with getting whatever you need.

The food..... The food was amazing. I only went yesterday and I'm already planning going back, so I can go through the whole menu.

I had the veggie full English and my friend had the eggs benedict. The food presentation is perfect for Instagram 😂 honestly.

The food was cooked to perfection and piping hot when it came out..... Which I absolutely loved, as usually I always find my food's loses it's warmth by the time it comes out. No issue with the food being cold here.

I'm not usually a fan of eggs that aren't scrambled.... But I would genuinely reccomend the eggs benedict, which I'm still surprised about.

We also had French toast, with the raspberry compost, between us and it was stunning. The perfect way to end the meal.

Overall, would highly reccomend.

The vibes are a mixture, between young and old, which I quite liked, surprisingly. Everyone just did their own thing, no one person was too loud or annoying. Everyone just enjoyed themselves, their food and the sun.

The food was great, the atmosphere was great, and the service was brilliant.

Was passing by after doing the school run and couldn't help ourselves from stopping. First impression were great, the outdoor seating are was clean and inviting. We sat ourselves and we're promptly presented with a very impressive menu of starters, burgers, salads and pastas. I had the halloumi burger which was to die for, my partner went for the residents burger which was honestly one of the tastiest burgers he's had in a long time and my daughter ordered a very generous portion of chicken nuggets and chips from the kids menu (unfortunately we were all too busy tucking in to take any pics of the food but guess that's a good sign). The bar area though small has a great selection of drinks, I was very impressed to see Brooklyn larger on tap. The staff were friendly and attentive whilst not being over bearing. The decor is modern and inviting and the cleanliness of the whole place was great. I've lived in this area for years and couldn't be happier to have such a great establishment on our doorstep.
