From the start, nice girl shown us to a table, (the table had nothing on it). We went to the bar to get some drinks, good service. Once sat down the waitress approached with her pad and asked what we would like to eat, "if we had menus we can tell you" we chose our meals, she returned, no fish. So I chose from the specials board (foot long sausage) "sorry that's gone we had none yesterday" I went for the scampi and chips with a wedge of lemon and peas. She returned again after 20 minutes and asked what kind of potatoes we wanted with 2 of our meals (beef and YORKSHIRE pudding. My wife went for the haloumi sizzler (the one where the cast iron dish is sizzling). My scampi arrived, no peas, no lemon and a portion for a mouse, I asked for the peas, they came stone cold, I sent the meal back and said don't replace it, I want a refund, the YORKSHIRE puddings, never seen anything like it, burnt and rock hard, we were not the only ones not eating them, the sizzler, was not sizzling (warm). The salad was questionable too. I did complain to the supervisor as there was not a Manager on site, he would not refund as we had started eating some food, he reimbursed me for the scampi and drinks and said we could return and eat free. Why would you return???

We went here for the first time and it is not somewhere I would recommend the food was terrible. The menu wasn’t up to much either! I had hunters chicken, the bbq sauce was that cheap flavour one and burnt the mouth out, my food was saturated in the stuff. With the ridiculous bit of salad piece of lettuce and a tomato. The kids food was ransacked with grease and chicken pieces were over cooked so was rock hard. Cheap tomato ketchup in sachets. And well the lady who served us had a pair of fish net stockings on with a black short mini skirt and was in her 60s ! By all means where what you want but surly in a pub where there is kids and people eating is there not a dress code for uniform? Good on you having the guts to dress like that hahahaha.. oh and it was very smelly inside definitely got damp. Thanks but won’t be coming back.

Wow! I didn't think they still existed but this is a REAL pub and totally traditional. Lovely cosy environment in the style of a traditional coach house. Very well kept and clean. A good selection of drinks and real ales. Friendly and welcoming staff and an extensive menu with a huge selection of specials. Food was very good value and decent portions. I ordered minted lamb stew and it was freshly made that day - the bar staff even had to check with the kitchen if it had cooked long enough yet! It's easy to forget that traditional pubs do still exist and make a welcome break to the chain pubs with pre-prepared processed food. Highly recommended!

Review posted on here as no response to FB messenger or via the email address given out on other reviews. This is going back to Fathers day. Such a shame as we've supported for years.

I messaged on the Facebook messenger as I wanted to share our experience for Fathers day as we found the table service was really poor. As of yet I've heard nothing back and I feel important as I think the standards are not what they used to be at this once great pub. I believe in reaching out before leaving reviews on the usual places, I tried this in the pub on the day of the meal but the staff were far from interested.

We arrived at a time when the restaurant was relatively quiet, around 3 pm. Despite this, we had several different staff members ask us if we had ordered our meals, even though we had already done so, so it seems many people were doing the same thing.

While my father was still eating his starter, a staff member approached our table and asked if we were finished and if they could clear the plates, even though it was clear that one of us was still eating.

After we had finished our main courses, our plates remained on the table for approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Despite making eye contact with several team members who passed by our table, no one came to clear the plates or ask us. Eventually, I had to ask a staff member if it would be possible to order dessert.

The staff member took our dessert order but left the table full of plates. After waiting for another 15 minutes without any sign of our desserts, I went to the bar to ask for our bill. In the end we only had the 2 courses instead of the 3.

While I was paying at the bar, there was no apology or acknowledgment from any of the staff members regarding what I had said.

I also noticed that another table near us had a similar experience, as they had to ask for their desserts and had been waiting for a long time as well.

On the positive the food we had was ok. I understand a long awaited refurb is due and it is needed as it's very tired and tatty inside.

I'm sorry for the honest review but we chose yourselves on that Sunday with it being fathers day, we don't eat out often but when we do we like to support local rather than the big chains to have such poor service and lack of interest from the staff when issues...

Really wanted this to be good. Used to be a great little pub when I lived in the area so despite the indifferent reviews, gave it the benefit of the doubt. Dont want to berate them so the review is really meant to be constructive. I acknowledge its early days but you’re loosing the impetus of new people visiting and miss the opportunity to build a new reputation.

The welcome wasn’t great. Kitchen staff polishing cutlery and ignoring people coming in. Advice; do this behind the scenes and welcome your customers with a greeter.

Waited 5 minutes to be acknowledged. Was less than friendly. Advice; welcome customers with a simple acknowledgment and not as is if its an inconvenience.

Was shown to a table crammed between the toilet entrance and other tables .. no advice on the menu. Advice; remove a few tables and again acknowledge customers as you seat them. Explain the menu in a few simple words.

Waited 10 minutes to be asked what we would like to drink. In the end I went to the bar. Waited a little longer to ask what we wanted to order food wise. Advice; check in on customers within a reasonable time of sitting down without a prompt.

Wait for food; 30 mins plus. Took a while. Food was lukewarm. One small tray of veg between four. Sent it back to be re-warmed. FOOD WAS BLOODY TASTY and so well cooked. Just lukewarm. Advice: Serve hot food! It’s really tasty. Just needs to be warm.

Ages until the dishes were cleared. Then ordered pudding. Ordered sticky toffee and custard. Got ginger pudding and custard. Again Luke warm. Sent it back. No real apolity. Advice: serve hot food and what was ordered.

In general. Food is good quality. Portions are good. It’s just like warm/inaccurate or cold. Service is poor. Too many young kids with a lack of experience and nobody with the overview of what’s going on. It needs conscientious floor manager who can keep an eye on the customer experience and simply connecting to the kitchen re service.

Sorry all. Don’t want to be mean but you have some...

I've never left a negative review before but this really was abysmal.

The menu doesn't describe what they actually serve. We had starters, I got chicken wings and parts were properly cold like they'd just come out the fridge. They sorted that by taking them away and frying them after they'd initially been microwaved, so that was fine, but I expected them to offer a free drink or something after serving cold chicken and they didn't which was a bit disappointing . My girlfriend had creamy garlic mushrooms with bacon lardons which were tasty but they came without the bacon lardons with no apology, explanation or discount.

Then I wanted the lamb shank but was told they didnt have any, so I got the beef Wellington which wasn't on the 2 courses for £10 offer so it was £14 plus the cost of the starter instead of both for £10. It was literally about 2inches square of beef inside a big empty pastry, 80% of the beef was inedible because it was just gristle. Like an end scrap piece or something. So I only actually had 1 mouthful of beef for £14. It also said it came in a savignon and port jus with pate but there was no pate and it just came with the same watery bland bisto like gravy that my girlfriend's gammon came with. Both of our peas were cold and hard and the Yorkshire puddings were really soft and cardboardy.

It was the first time I've ever had to complain about a meal and after asking they did begrudgingly give a refund for the Beef Wellington but only after frostily reminding me that they sorted out my cold chicken starter for me.

Definitely the worst pub/resraurant meal I've ever had. We did see the burgers that some people had though and they...
