My friend and I stopped off for a snack and I had a coffee. We were greeted in a friendly way in the first instance and asked to attract her attention when we were ready to order. We sat at a table a little way towards the back of the cafe. I thought the chair covers were distinctly grubby which didn't auger well for what was to follow. When we eventually attracted the attention of the waitress I ordered a fish finger sandwich £9.00 and a coffee and my friend had a smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese £9.50. When it eventually arrived the bagel was barely filled with cream cheese and the smoked salmon had three pieces of fish bone in and a horrible tough piece of something that was unidentifiable! Needless to say the rest of the bagel and remaining smoked salmon was not finished. My fish finger sandwich had lettuce inside with mayo but as I removed the lettuce it was apparent that it was not very fresh due to the brown lettuce stalk and bits of limp lettuce I found amongst the mayo. The.coffee was lovely... Altogether an expensive time...

Visited a really excellent coffee shop in Ringmer three times now. Oat and soy flat whites extremely good. Great smoothies. Lots of different space. Comfortable seating. Very friendly and attentive. This was a bit let down by the food. We had a galette – decent but not amazing. The vegan waffle BLT was odd – I guess deconstructed would be the kind description. Everything could have been a bit better – crispier lettuce, riper tomato, bacon not as dry – mostly it was a heap on the waffle. Then the avocado toast should be the thing that is hard to get wrong. The avocado itself was great but it needed lime juice, a little more coriander, and a bit more mashing. Then a more interesting dressing more seeds. The sourdough is also bland – given that there is such great artisan sourdough around this was a disappointment. I would see what Gails in Lewes does for its avocado toast and compare. Nevertheless, we will go back for the ambience, coffee, smoothies and maybe...

Visited Grounded at the Forge today as we do often and normally enjoy it. Ordered sausage roll for my son and a Quiche for myself plus drinks. The Quiche arrived and it was tiny , I said how small it was and the member of staff serving us agreed, she said its new on the menu and we were just discussing how small the serving was !!! . On paying I was asked if everything was okay. I said yes apart from the tiny piece of Quiche which wasn't even 2" thick at the widest part of the segment. She agreed but still charged me £8.00. Annoyed with myself for not sending it back. CW , Uckfield. 03/08/22 Revised review. I received a very thorough explanation very soon after posting the above review that I was more than satisfied with. Thank you Kate . Myself and my family are looking forward to returning ASAP . The staff are always exceptionally friendly and the food and coffee delicious....

I've been coming here once or twice a week for over two years, so i can certainly say it's one of my favourite local cafes. It looks so reserved from the outside, but is stylish and cosy inside. Pros: - Delicious coffees - Food is a good mix of healthy and sinful - Menu gets new options regularly enough to stay interesting - Cakes and pastries are always fresh - Friendly staff, make an effort to remember regulars - Car parking right outside - Background music just right, not too loud - Outdoor seating and shade in summer Cons: - As a historical building it is a little chilly if you're by a window, but they have dozens of soft blankets for chilly knees - Popular enough to be busy, so you might get a sofa seat that's a bit tricky to eat at if you want a meal.

Four of us stopped here during a bike ride around Sussex and I’m glad we did. With a great menu, a vast selection of cakes and very good coffee, it was the perfect pit-stop. The boys who had the smashed avocado on toast had no complaints and the sticky toffee biscoff cake slice was very good. One of the boys was vegetarian and had no issues ordering something he liked. In addition, the staff were extremely welcoming and friendly. If you are in the area, I highly recommend stopping here for a bite to eat or a quick espresso.
