Newhaven's only pub on the East side of the river is equidistant between the Town and Harbour Stations but if you get off at Newhaven Harbour and pass by the long defunct Harbour Tavern you will have a slightly shorter route to this fine Edwardian building in Railway Road. In times gone by there was a captive audience amongst the workers of Parker Pen and the many other light industries nearby but these days the Engineer has to rely on passing trade. It is worth making the effort though as the Landlord Bob Daniels runs a proper old school boozer with a couple of ales always in good nick together with the usual wine and lager offerings. Every year in August the Engineer hosts a charity fundraiser which is well supported.
