Ristorante Da Gino — Restaurant in Lichfield

We went to this restaurant for our sons birthday. Friday 31st Jan. First, we were told to sit in the bar area looking at menu and drinks menu. This was not comfortable fur to people coming in and out of the door,which was very drafty. Waitress was not at all helpful with wine list and quite abrupt. Our table was actually free so why we didn't get the choice of if we wanted to sit down, I dont understand. We waited half hour for drinks order to be taken. Nearly 40 minutes before they come to take food order, which we needed to ask about. The starter took half hour to arrive. My husband had to ask for the extra glasses to be removed for more space on the table. They serve vegetables with meal which is not left on your table! Not once during the meal did we get asked if we needed any more drinks(we had to ask) Neither did we get asked if the food was good. We live in Streetly and have visited here a few times but not for awhile now. There were also other people coming in being hugged and made more welcome us being shown straight to their table!! We will not be visiting this restaurant again, certainly not recommending it. We would rather go to Romantica,Mere Green, where the service is always great. The staff are very friendly(to everyone) and very helpful.

We have been here a few times, and the food and service have always been good. For starters I ordered mussels, and they were lovely. My wife ordered the Avocado... The avocado was hard and unripe, and really should not have been served... We mentioned this to a waiter, who brought this to the attention of one of the ladies overseeing the tables. Let me just say, we did not make a big issue, we.justbwanted to say that the avocado was not ripe... The lady hurried over... (Bearing in mind that the restaurant was busy, and somewhat noisy) my wife started to talk to the lady... She was then told in no uncertain terms not to shout... I know from many years experience... My wife was not shouting... The background noise was on the loud side as there was a big party to the back of us, so my wife's voice was raised to overcome the atmosphere at the time.. unfortunate really, as my wife did take umbrage at how she was spoken to... We both had swordfish as mains, and it was lovely... However the contretemps with the lady running the restaurant somewhat put a damper on the evening.. may be a while before we...

I rarely write reviews but in this case I had to make an exception due to how rude one particular staff member was to myself and my partner, completely ruining a long awaited reunion meal with my family after being separated for nearly 2 years.

When I enquired about the menu, he became extremely disrespectful and confrontational, even making comments about my partners facial expressions at one point.

It was clear after this he was told off by senior staff and came back apologising and offering solutions, however the damage was already done at this point and it was a little too late and the apologies felt empty and forced.

On top of this, we had to wait 50 minutes after sitting down for our food order to be taken.

The food was OK, but considering the price tag for it you can do better at home whilst spending a fraction of the price, or simply try somewhere else with staff that show basic...
