Very disappointed with the Bulls Head.
Have been regulars at the Bulls head for years. the food has always been very hit and miss, more miss than hit lately. It's a case of 'putting up with it'. But even we have had enough now. We love the pub, Rosie and the girls are great, its the food that need sorting out. Some of the staff need a lesson in manners and respect to customers too. How bad is it that there are certain things on the menu that you just don't order cause you know they can't get it right ? or last time you had them they were horrible, not just bad but horrible.it really puts you off. As an example I have attached a picture of some onion rings, they were burnt, soggy and cold and just look at the bowl they were served in. it had more chips than I had on my plate. the cook thought this was acceptable to serve, the waitress thought this was acceptable to serve. what do you think ? I was disgusted, didn't eat them. I am not one to complain (otherwise I would be up at the bar constantly ) but the food is not satisfactory by any means. it's not just on the odd occasion either, can't remember the last time I had a nice meal there. I am amazed at the peole who said they had a 'fantastic meal'. we are so disappointed lately that we have been going to other pubs and omg the difference is a million miles away. it makes me feel mad with myself that we didn't go somewhere else earlier. It must be costing you a fortune in free meals too judging by the other reviews on here, for when someone complains. I once heard 3 separate complains from people in one night. I think the staff are used to it by now. it's the norm. The manageress need to sack the kitchen staff and employ someone who actually can and wants to cook good food, the bad staff need to go too. I think even the ghost has left in disgust.
We were regulars, you have lost...
Read moreI was welcomed with Chris (I think) whilst he was in the car park taking a call. On entering I found the pub to be very nicely decorated and it had the feel of a good old traditional country pub. There was a small what looked like a conservatory area on entering the pub and a rather nicely laid out restaurant (or more formal dinning area) off to the right. There was only 1 staff behind the bar and a couple of people had been waiting to be served. I was served by Chris on his retrun from the phone call after telling him to serve the two people who had been waiting. I was a bit disappointed that there was only one traditional beer on with signs around the other two pumps stating they were settling in the cellar but settled for a pint of London Pride which was poured well and tasted just as good. On getting a table and menu I ordered the mushroom to start and the signature burger. The mushrooms could have done with being on a thicker piece of toasted bloomer as it was slightly soggy and the sauce could have done with a touch more cheese in it as I found it a bit lacking in punch but OK. The signature burger was a bit small and did not taste home made and was lacking in my opinion of being loaded with cornish smoked brisket, the skin on chips were a bit over cooked BUT all in all on the taste front which lets be honest it is what it is all about it was not too bad at all. I ordered another well poured pint and the bill was a tad under £35. The pub had a steady stream of people with a couple settling for some of the starters. There was also in places a lack of lighting as a couple put on the lights on the phone to read the menu which I have to say was extensive, although they may have just forgot their glasses! (Sorry about hands on the...

When we arrived it took the person a good 2 minutes to find our booking..At first I thought booking had been missed.
The place was very busy.
All of the cushions at the table we sat at looked grubby. Sent a glass back due to lipstick on it. The new glass didn't have any ice in it..perhaps she didn't like me pointing it out? Nonetheless, sloppy and thoughtless.
My friend asked for the Buttermilk chicken burger. That was unavailable.
I ordered the Cornish crab cake 'with pesto'.. Took neatly 30+ minutes to arrive.
Looked OK, no relish just on a plate. My friend said there's something missing. Blinked and realised the 'pesto' was barely visible in the olive oil they'd 'carefully' put around the edge of the plate. Hardly any taste of crab (think it had returned to Cornwall). Oil tasted as if it needed to be changed.
I had the beef burger with brisket, not too bad. Again took 30 mins plus to arrive. I had to ask twice where food was?
A couple behind us said they'd waited an hour for a fish finger sandwich. (They had a short amount of time and needed to go). The waitress appeared more concerned with making excuses than providing any level of customer service..They started to leave and miraculously food appeared..
Staff didn't bother to check how our meals were; Likely not too bothered..
Bottom line; Save your money. Don't bother, expensive rubbish. They are clearly still in recovery from covid, trying to cram as many covers in, also make as much money for limited output in ...
