1st time staying over at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Booked in via Booking.com and it was for work reasons, in the area, too. Ended up staying three nights. Ideal location from work perspective. Lovely hotel, gardens and facilities, just off the main A51 heading out from Lichfield. The bar and restaurant are huge and split across several rooms, and further seating at the rear of the property is for serving breakfasts primarily. Great choices of alcohol on tap and bottled. All the serving staff are marvellous too. All friendly, personable, chatty and welcoming and cannot do enough for you. Lots of friendly banter. Food is deliciously prepared and just right. Breakfasts are sumptuous, and such a variation for all courses, in fact. I had chicken and bacon salad, olives and tiramisu one evening, followed another night, by homemade pizza, ciabatta, chips and ice cream. I had a triple room booked for me as the last room available and not disappointed. Big bedroom, firm and comfortable. Loads of space facing the front of the property. Big bedroom/lounge, windows, and bathroom, and good rainwater/spray shower All in all a wonderful experience and would stay again

i highly recommend here. Having stayed at The Hedgehog this weekend we couldn't have asked for a better experience. it did not start off well, not the staffs fault i hasten to add but an IT glitch over payment. This was resolved and we had a lovely meal on Friday evening. The team all carried out social distancing and were very attentive. The room was clean and hardly any noise even though above the bar and restaurant and on a busy road. we enjoyed the food so much we decided to have our Sunday lunch which again was exceptional. whilst dining the team were faced a few issues with a leak, not fazed they dealt with it well and moved diners. it seemed to me a well led team who clearly work hard together. I am not normally one for an essay, so sorry not sorry but the efforts of everyone we dealt with should be recognised. Finally to the young lady who dealt with us on arrival, yes it didnt go smoothly but your customer service was perfect, kept calm at all times. thank you we will be visiting again!

Went to this place as our children were up for the weekend visiting us. We wanted to go somewhere different and new. Our daughter gave us three places to choose from and the Hedgehog won out. We booked a table and we are glad we did. The place is very clean and well presented. There is a lovely outside seating area where you can enjoy the garden while enjoying your drink. We were shown our table and our drinks order was taken. About 5 minutes later they took our food order and within 10 minutes our starters arrived. Lovely just enough to make you want your main meal. After we finished our starter our main meal arrived. They were just perfect couldn't fault any of them, lovely and hot. They also have the Spanish beer Estrella on draft, which is a lovely beer having lived in Barcelona for many years. The bill came as we didn't have room for any puddings. The total cost i thought fairly expensive but I suppose for such a high standard of meal you expect to pay, so fair enough.

DON'T HEDGE YOUR BETS ON THIS PLACE.

We had booked a 7:30 table at the Hedgehog (29.10.24) for a Birthday meal.

Prior to taking our orders we were told that the 'signature burger' was not available which was unfortunate as the birthday girl had decided that' was what she wanted. Anyway, after a few minutes we decided on 3 x beef bourguignon's and 1 x fish cake.

We ordered a sharing platter as a starter along with some calamari. A few minutes later the waitress came back and told us that there but no beef bourguignons left which was quite annoying as myself and my son were really looking forward to it and now the birthday girl's second choice was also not available.

Whilst trying to decide what other dishes we were going to choose we were then told that one of the items on the sharing platter (the pulled pork and apple bonbons) were also not available so had to choose another alternative.

A short while later whilst still trying to decide what we were going to have for our mains the sharing platter and the calamari arrived..... unfortunately both meals were cold to the touch!!

It was at this point we decided we wanted nothing more to do with this restaurant. We finished our drinks which I insisted were free at this point and left.

How can such a large establishment (somewhere we have been a couple of times in the past) owned by one of the largest pub chains (M&B) get it so wrong.

There is obviously something seriously wrong with your system. Surely in today's high-tech world every waiter or waitress should have the ability to know exactly what is or isn't on the menu prior to taking people's orders without having to keep going backwards and forwards to the customer saying menu items are not available once orders have been placed. Also why can't you keep enough stocks of every meal to ensure this doesn't happen.

Not only was it a special birthday meal but we had travelled 30 minutes to get to this restaurant.

What a very poor and disappointing experience.

Luckily we went to a pub a few minutes away called the Bowling Green. They managed to get us a table and provide us with hot food that we had chosen first time.

Ironically this pub is also...

We went as a group of 8 on boxing day. We pre ordered. When we arrived we were waiting a short while before we were seated which was understandable. Starters were great tasty. We had to wait a long time for them. Next up was the mains. Well they were nice and enjoyable. However 7 out of 8 pre ordered meals were not as described on the menu. Items substituted as they didn't have what we pre ordered. The sides we ordered extra were forgotten completely dispite being read back to us to double check the order when we sat down. 3 of the sides were sent back as they had substituted items off the menu with the sides we had ordered. Ie a meal that was supposed to have dauphinoise potato was served with roast potatoes that meal was ordered with a side of roast potatoes. The cauliflower cheese i was supposed to have with my meal arrived 10 minutes after I had finished plus it was very undercooked and was still hard. The deserts 7 out of 8 were correct. However dispite pre ordering so the kitchen knew what was needed they had run out of one of the deserts so we were forced to have something else. We weren't happy at all. What is the point of pre ordering if they don't have what you ordered a month before. The sides were taken off the bill and were were offered a coffee however the meal took so long we had run out of time due to work shifts for some of the our group. We left feeling dissapointed with a meal that cost almost £400. We won't be bothering there again. There was one member of staff that seemed to be doing all of the work and he was the one who helped sort out the mess of our meal. He deserved a medal. Sadly there won't be a repeat visit from any of us...

AVOID THE HOTEL AT ALL COSTS. So we stayed for 2 nights, at the end of trip, so we could see friends, we chose this as it was near to them. From the outside it looked OK, as soon as we got to the internal stairs a big change, grubby dirty carpet up to the room. SEE PHOTOS We entered and there was an unpleasant smell from the bathroom. The bathroom was dirty and had no cover over the sink drain, it was an open hole. My towel had a huge rip in it and the toilet seat was stained and broken. The room walls were stained and we could clearly see where a leak had damaged the wall as it was not really repaired. There were ladybirds in the room, a piece of glass on the floor, stained carpet, dirty head board. The only thing clean was the sheets. The breakfast was nice but the waitress was too busy chatting to 2 men in the bar, she noticed us 15 mins after we sat down. Another couple came in and she told them to help themselves to coffee and juice. Then walked off.....there was no coffee and juice she hadn't bothered to refill them, same the next day she was too busy set up oil candles on the tables to look after the guests. We had dinner there one night, our waitress was great, unfortunately we were obviously in the way of the others setting up the Christmas decorations. The manager was busy chatting to a crowd of people while his staff struggled. So we decided to complain. We got an email from the manager asking for my number. I replied. No call nothing. They just want your money. £227 wasted on a pit. Asked for a refund and am...
