Went to this pub as its local to a member of the family to celebrate a birthday. The pub is very traditional and is full of warmth upon entering. This sets you up for a nice glass of beer to which they have lots. Hand pumped beer straight from the barrel what could be nicer. After a few drinks our meal came in a timely manner. The lady who served us was very pleasant and looked after our needs. The food itself was just like home cooking beautiful, and it didn't take long for that lot to disappear. If there is a downside you have to pay cash for your food not for the drinks which is a little odd I thought. The food prices are very reasonable though. However if you are ever passing this pub, pop in as you will enjoy.

Just want to give a shout out to Poppy for being an excellent member of staff at this great traditional pub! She really looked after us and was extremely helpful! When she wasn't serving, she was tidying up and wiping down tables which is something you rarely see nowadays! If I had a pub, I would definitely headhunt her for head bar staff! 😀 Thanks again, Nigel & Claire

A cracking pint.. A proper pub. Friendly landlord and landlady staff, and clientele. Dog friendly.. in fact Geoffrey (the dog) loves it here too.. the landlord brought him some Turkey in a bowl … fantastic! …. Eh-up.. what about me!!! .. Definitely worth a visit. Thankyou ..we’ll definitely be back. Thanks guys

Nice pub and staff . We called in on Wednesday evening and it was full. We found a seat and ordered our food. I had bangers and mash and my wife had cottage pie. The waitress asked do you want chips or mash with your pie. ( you don't have mash with cottage pie) that's what it's made of . Anyway she asked for mash as chips with cottage pie sounded crazy. When both meals arrived the mash was only half mashed big lumps of potato in both and the pie was empty. My saugauge was a cheap frozen type. Both meals where like 1960 school meals but edable. But the beer and wine where good. I would call again for a drink but never eat here. The presentation of the meals were 1 out of 10. Just chucked on the plate, when they arrived we just sat and looked at each other speechless. We should have complained but we...

I think of this as a really lovely and friendly unspoilt village pub. A good range of keg beers and three superbly kept real ales. Now run by the cheerful and warm bar lady who's worked there for almost a decade she's reintroduced the great value food menu so popular a few years ago which focusses on classic British pub food. I visited "graveyard shift" on a Monday afternoon yet there were plenty of happy customers enjoying a bevvy and the sensible prices.

If you want an expensive "gastropub" this may not be your best choice but if you want traditional village pub values and a great atmosphere...
