A Memorable Anniversary Dinner – Our New Favorite in Liverpool!

We visited Akshaya Sri Lankan and Indian Restaurant in Kensington, Liverpool, for the first time last Friday to celebrate our wedding anniversary and what an unforgettable experience it was!

From the moment we stepped in, we were warmly welcomed by the staff, who made us feel right at home. Since it was our first time at Akshaya, we were kindly guided through the menu, which was incredibly helpful and added a personal touch to our dining experience.

The ambiance of the restaurant was truly impressive—beautifully decorated walls, unique ceiling features, and a large fish tank that fascinated both the kids and us. We were lucky to be seated right beneath it, which made the evening feel even more special.

We ordered some of our favorite Sri Lankan dishes, and everything exceeded expectations. If you’ve never tried Kottu, a beloved street food from Sri Lanka, I highly recommend the version served here absolutely delicious and full of authentic flavor. My wife ordered the Dosa meal, and it was perfectly prepared, generously portioned, and beautifully presented.

The kids’ meals were equally delightful. Our children, who usually opt for burgers or other typical fast food when dining out, genuinely enjoyed the rice and chicken. It was such a joy to see them appreciate a wholesome, hearty meal for a change!

What truly elevated our experience, though, was the exceptional hospitality and customer service. Special thanks to Prakurthi, who took our order and attended to all our inquiries with professionalism and genuine warmth. She demonstrated what outstanding service truly means and made our evening all the more enjoyable.

We had dined at a well-known South African franchise restaurant in the city center just a week earlier and were very disappointed with the service there. In contrast, Akshaya reminded us of how powerful sincere customer care can be. The entire team at Akshaya, from front-of-house to kitchen, deserves praise for their dedication to excellence in service and quality.

Thank you to Prakurthi and the entire team—we left the restaurant happier than ever. Akshaya is now our top choice for dining in Liverpool, and we look forward to returning very soon!

Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic Sri Lankan and Indian cuisine, welcoming service, and a wonderful...

A good restaurant is all about great consistent food and good service. We’ve been to Akshaya many times and it’s always been good but this time the food was average. The Chicken biryani has switched chicken breast with very chewy lower quality chicken that was more fat than meat and was very dry - cost engineering at its worst. I’d rather pay a bit more for quality. The flavours were good but it was a poor dish overall. I came here especially for this as it was excellent last couple of times. The service was terrible, mixing up the order with rude waiters with poor English. There was a saving grace with one waitress who redeemed things a little and was attentive. The staff are clearly instructed to sell as much alcohol as possible as the waiter was constantly on us asking if he should bring us more beer even after we said no. Worst of all they asked in advance with the booking if there were any allergies but completely ignored these. We had to repeatedly ask and even then they kept saying they couldn’t guarantee no cross contamination and yet there menu lists nuts in certain dishes. In effect, this would rule out anyone with a severe nut allergy. Finally the gents toilet was very smells with floors looking like they needed disinfecting. I am not sure I will visit this restaurant again. So sad as it was brilliant...

I recently dined at Akshaya, and I must say, it was an experience worth sharing.

Food Quality: The food at Akshaya is exceptional. Each dish is crafted with fresh ingredients and a keen attention to detail. I started with the chart bomb, which was beautifully presented and featured a delightful selection of Nonveg platters and chilly Gobi. For the main course, I opted for the lamb biriyani, which was perfectly cooked—flaky and moist, with a rich, flavorful glaze. The seasonal salad on the side was vibrant and seasoned to perfection. Lastly, the dessert—a decadent beetroot halwa —was the perfect sweet ending to the meal.

Service: The service at Akshaya was outstanding. Our server was attentive without being intrusive, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring our glasses were never empty. The staff seemed well-trained and knowledgeable about the menu, which enhanced our dining experience. They were quick to address any requests and made us feel welcome throughout our visit.

Overall Experience: The Akshaya restaurant & bar combines high-quality food with exceptional service, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. Whether you’re looking for a casual night out or a special occasion, this restaurant is a fantastic choice. I highly recommend it and look forward to...

I booked a table for my wife's birthday. It was a great experience that they gave me a good location where I could keep my baby's pram and accommodate 5 family members together. Though it was busy day on Saturday, they served us like special. The girl (I hope her name was Bhanu from Ekm) who served us was so amiable, always smiling and ready to serve. The ambience inside was just amazing except the temperature level in the hall seemed to be little high for such a crowdy day. Quality and taste of food was nice especially for biriyani and porota. But the taste of some curries were average and pricing seemed to be higher compared to some restaurants in London. Ample parking space was available behind the building, but all was taken by the time we reached. However we managed to park somewhere there itself without hazzle. My wife was so thrilled to have her birthday cake served by one of the crew with a background of happy birthday song to her while everyone in restaurant clapping and singing for her. Thank you so much for such courtsey and extra mile gone to please customers. The cleanliness was just excellent. Most of the Indian And Srilankan cuisines are served here... My humble suggestion is to increase Indian/Kerala non veg curry items on the menu...
