We have visited this restaurant around 15 times over the past few years, even booking a table for our daughter graduation meal. However, over the last 12 months, we have seen standards dropping to an all time low. We booked a table last week, the balsamic onion flat bread that we had for our starter arrived, not only half the original size, but also so under cooked that it was white. That wasnt the only problem, there was only a tiny sliver of the balsamic and onion glaze down the middle of the bread. The stuffed mushrooms were just full of diced red onion, where as normally they have a lovely stuffing. Although they have cut the portion size by one or two mushrooms, but are still charging the same price.
The meatball al forno pasta was so tastless, that even a shop bought dolmio sauce would have tasted better and the meat balls were little triangles, yes triangles of fattty sausage meat. The whole meal was absymal , which is a shame, but as I said, we have noticed the standards dropping for some time, this meal was the all time low. Although the waiting on staff are very lovely and helpful. On top of all that, our daughter who ate a different meal started vomiting two hours later and was very ill all night. Needless to say, we will NEVER be...
Read moreI used to think ASK Italian was the best pizza place in town, so I decided to order a quick pasta before going to the theater. Unfortunately, the standards of the past are no longer upheld.
The linguine was limp and overcooked, the seafood was tasteless and bland, and the sauce was watery and flavorless. I ate it anyway, hoping that dessert would make up for it. However, the desserts were also disappointing. The salted caramel panna cotta was cheap and tasted artificial, and the Amarena cherries & mascarpone were bland and boring. The only good thing was the raspberry sorbet.
Overall, I was very disappointed with my meal at ASK Italian. The food was mediocre at best, and the prices are high. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Read moreHad a nice lunch here at the weekend. It's pretty quiet around 2-3 on a Saturday. We shared a pizza, some burrata, calamari and zucchini fritti. The Primavera Forever pizza was really tasty, and it worked very well to dip the stonebaked crusts into the pesto dip with it. We took the leftover pizza home as it was so nice. Burrata was nice enough, but it looked a bit sad on the plate and could have been perked up with fresh basil or a crostini. The zucchini was fine for nibbles, but as a side, I would have liked to see more substantial chunks of courgette rather than small bits. I'm afraid that the calamari was pretty bad. It was just tasteless and chewy to the point of being difficult to eat. There was no lemon served with with it. I had a strawberry mocktail which was very nice and not too sweet. I was also happy that they brought plenty of cold tap water to the table.
Service was good and we had a friendly server.
I would eat here again, I just wouldn't have the calamari! As far as chain Italians go, it's pretty pricey but had some nice options. Pizza is...
