We visited Namma Ooru Dosa today as a family with two kids. The restaurant wasnât crowded, and we were able to spend some relaxed time there. However, the overall dining experience fell short of expectations, especially considering the restaurantâs focus on dosa varieties.
We ordered a ghee masala dosa, omelette dosa, and a chicken noodles to share with the kids. Unfortunately, both the dosas were quite disappointing. The masala in the ghee masala dosa was completely bland, lacking any real flavor, and in the omelette dosa, we couldn't really taste the omeletteâit mostly had chunks of onion. This was particularly disheartening given that dosa is supposed to be their specialty.
The chicken noodles were comparatively better, though slightly on the spicier side. Because of the spice, our kids asked for water, so we decided to order a mango lassi and requested it to be served in two glasses for the kids. However, the staff refused without offering any explanation, which felt very unwelcoming. Only after my wife insisted did they finally provide a parcel glass to help us split it.
The service throughout was underwhelming. After placing our initial order, no staff checked in on us or attended to our needs during the rest of our visit, which lasted for about an hour. The lack of attention and basic customer service left us feeling unwelcome.
Overall, while the restaurant has potential, the food quality (especially the dosa varieties) and the service experience need significant...
Read moreDrove an hour and a half to have food at NOD, had a terrible experience as we were made to wait for more than an hour to give us table. We had to wait with a 16 month old despite prior table booking. Our table was given to someone else, though we reached on time another group were made to sit with a reserved note on the table few minutes we stepped in, saying that because they were waiting to order. One worst thing to note is they had booked tables for 35 guests while they had chairs only for 32, 3 of my friends had to stand for a long time as there were no chairs left, made me feel they were the greediest of all the restaurants Iâve been to. Once we were made to sit, we had to wait another 30 mins for food to be brought to us and constantly the waiter was coming back to us saying the ordered food items werenât available, to note we placed the order 15 mins after going into the restaurant it took them 1 hr 30 mins to let us know those dishes werenât available. Overall lack of communication, failed to set expectations, no empathy for customers, greedy suppliers is all I could feel during...
Read moreVisited NOD today in search of authentic dosa after reading reviews.
Ordered Paper Roast and dosa was indeed good. They serve dosa with small bowl of sambhar, and 2 chutneys. They do refill when asked but take a lot of time to bring refill. I asked for sambhar when a quarter of dosa was left but it never came. So service is really an issue here.
I wanted to have something more and asked the waitress for suggestions... something crispy and plain. She said Chettinad Dosa....and I went for the same. I was shocked to see that it was similar to uttapam and far from being anything crispy. Not sure why the waitress misled me!And when I expressed my disappointed and asked her about it not being crispy she just brushed off. I had no option but to leave the dish.
In summary
service is slow - as experienced, time taken to get tissue paper, to get extra chutney/sambhar
recommendations are bad - was suggested a thicker dosa when I was looking...
