This still remains the Chinese restaurant of choice for a meal in Dulwich! If anything, the staff are even more friendly and welcoming whilst remaining exceptionally professional: it is a delight eating here. This is a fantastic choice for takeaway orders as well. The price of eating out has gone up so if you are going to splash out out has to be worth spending your hard-earned cash - and this restaurant does not disappoint. '148' remains well loved by locals and I have been eating here for over twenty years: formerly known as Mr Liu, the new management team have definitely settled in and made it their own. The food is still excellent - freshly prepared and beautifully seasoned: the staff are gorgeous, they will remember you and are happy to converse with you or, sensitively, leave you in peace. Highly recommended.

Where do I start?!?! We went to this restaurant for a Birthday dinner for my daughter and it was a really good choice. The food was delicious. The lamb in garlic and soy sauce was great and my daughter’s favourite, Sweet and Sour Chicken and special chow mein was perfection. The staff are sooooo nice and even surprised my daughter with Banana fritters, ice cream and a candle whilst singing “Happy Birthday”. I could of cried…lol We’ll be back in a couple weeks, a date night for mum and dad…. P.S: soft shell crab…wow my first time tasting soft shell crab and I was very satisfied. Perfect place for a family meal. Kid friendly but still “grown.”

First but definitely not my last visit to 148. Turned up without a table reservation but was easily accommodated. Thank you. Our order was taken promptly. Friendly welcoming staff. Good size portions. Hot and tasty food. Re. Covid measures- sanitiser at the door for use by patrons, staff wearing face coverings and socially distanced tables and chairs wiped clean after vacated. I will definitely be back. Had a lovely meal with my goddaughter.

It was reasonably priced and had a good choice of food. The woman I ordered from was polite. Delivery arrived faster than advised and the driver was polite and friendly but that's were the good points end.

I have used a Chinese restaurant in Forest Hill for delivery for about 18 years. Unfortunately since it reopened after covid lockdown I have not been impressed with some of the dishes so I decided to try another. 148 was the most highly recommended in East Dulwich and I ordered some of my usual favourites i.e. veg spring roll, shredded smoked chicken, capital spare ribs, hot and sour soup, aubergine in spicy salt and chilli, egg fried rice and (although not on the menu) pineapple fritters. The rice was nice, the soup was ok but the rest were all pretty awful; Spring roll - pale undercooked pastry, filling was insipid Shredded chicken - overcooked and tasted artificial as if flavoured with a smoky bacon seasoning Spare ribs - fatty lumps of gristle, no bone and very little meat Aubergine - sliced like matchsticks (no problem) but completely covered in a dry powdery coating totally overpowering any taste of the veg Pineapple - tinned rings in undercooked sloppy batter.

I know I am used to a very high standard from my usual but can't understand how this restaurant gets a good rating. I would gladly eat food from my usual on a bad day before ordering...

I have discovered a fantastic Chinese restaurant that has quickly become one of my favorites. The menu is extensive, offering a wide range of delicious options. As a pescatarian, I can't personally judge the meat dishes, but my family and friends were all very impressed with their choices. The restaurant uses fresh ingredients, especially the fish and vegetables, which adds a delightful touch to the meals. The service is attentive, ensuring that our dining experience is enjoyable and hassle-free. I also frequently rely on their takeout service for meals at home, and the quality remains consistently high. The prices are fair and in line with what you would expect in the area, providing excellent value for the quality of food and service. If you plan to dine in, I highly recommend booking in advance, as this place tends to get busy. Overall, this fantastic Chinese restaurant has become a top favorite of mine, and I eagerly look forward to returning for more...

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

If I could select 0, I certainly would. The service here has been getting worse and worse over the years & now it is just diabolical. The food is also terrible (nothing like it used to be).

The owner/manager is the most impolite and unfriendly man, even towards his own staff.

On my last visit, I was so appalled with the food I’d been served and the service I’d received that I kindly asked the waitress to remove service charge. The response was that I should be warned, if I refuse to pay service on this occasion, I will be barred from dining there again. Of course I had absolutely no intention of returning anyway, but that was the shocking response. When I questioned whether that was really the policy, the manager asked “why would you come back anyway” with absolutely no interest in why I wasn’t happy with the service or how he could improve.

You couldn’t pay me to step foot in here or even...
