Ok I have rated this chips shop to all friends but for the fourth time in as many months I can say the chips are digusting they start off looking good but the time you get home they always look and taste stale. I don't know what's gone wrong but it has and also in the shop they should be wearing hats overalls and gloves when handerling food not good anymore and the chips are cut and left to air dry out in the open at the back of the shop for all manner of things to come into contact with it hope they can get the chips back to being perfect I for one won't be back:-(
Went back to try it out and have to say it has gone up u ordered rock and chips and sausage and chips and have to say it was excellent the fish was fried there and then and the chops was the best so I will he changing my rating if this place today to 4 stars will be going back as they have really gone up well done

Read moreIf I could rate it less I would. I have lived in and around West Norwood for the majority of my life and this so called 'fish and chips' shop has been in a state of decline since the 90's and it has now reached an all time low in every possible aspect. The place does not even qualify with regards to food hygiene (really), the menu is as vast as it is cheap (ergo not exclusively a fish and chips shop) and to top it off the customer service is deplorable at best. That said, being a Londoner does provide one with the ability to turn a blind eye to such grimey indiscretions when hunger strikes however, my most recent dealing with them was to be my last...
Long story short, my wife ordered haddock, waited an hour to then recieve a call to say they have no haddock (seriously), she then rightfully expresses how disappointing this clearly was only to then be told that it was her fault for ordering via hungry house and not calling them direct. Lovely.
Needless to say that hungry or not, I would rather wade through raw sewage with a sieve and a positive attitude in search for edibles than to ever endorse the idea that Ace Plaice is anything more than the...

The preparing of my lamb doner kebab was a long and dubious affair which mostly took part in the kitchen at the back so I couldn’t see where or what the meat was stored in. What I did notice was the guy preparing it walking around (and shooting the occasional shifty looking glance my way) with a mug containing a gloopy substance I can only surmise was lard. The mug was microwaved and at some point the contents poured over the kebab meat! When I got home and opened the food container on closer inspection the meat was glistening in this grease. The food container was coated on the inside with the stuff which then went hard and white when it cooled down. Yep! It was lard all right! My plate has never been so oily from a kebab. Was very hungry but couldn’t finish it. I have never seen anything like this at other kebab shops. I will never go to Ace Plaice again. Lamb doner contains enough fat – pouring extra fat over it is shocking and unethical. No wonder the guy preparing it looked so shifty when carrying around that...
