What a lovely gem of a cafe/ bistro in the heart of West Norwood. Lovely Mediterranean/ Italian decor. Light and exceptionally clean with a quiet atmosphere where you could easily sit comfortably enjoying their homestyle delicious food with an Italian twist to meals. I had the Roast Lamb with mixed vegetables and roast potatoes it's was tasty and a good portion enough to satisfy my male appetite, the Roast potatoes were exceptionally good as they were hot crispy and firmly fluffy inside with a twist to the taste buds in form of a light garlic and herb flavouring.😋 The service was friendly and accommodating which was much appreciated in today's world of a lack of customer service and standards. I've been visiting Sorrento cafe for over 23 years after I moved into the area. Sadly, the best days of this once excellent local cafe seem to be behind them. I noticed a decline in the standard of service and attention to detail since January 2025. This decline appears to coincide with the arrival of a new member of male staff. Sometimes out the front serving and sometimes out the back cooking. His style and apparent lack of attention to customers as well as his sloppy way of serving food is a real shame. What a lovely find in West Norwood! You are overly welcomed with a smile and the staff actually look happy to see you. The service resembles something from a top west end cafe and you are always asked if everything is OK. The food is delicious and they make the prettiest looking and yummiest hot chocolates in West Norwood - complete with cream and a flake if you want it.
