Although Food was delivered on time and in time for Iftari to open fast, it was not hot but cold, luke warm at best, mixed iftari platter dish was delivered late after mains were already served and at table. Having paid and ordered hours earlier online and booked in advanced the service should have been much better and faster even though they know they have fully booked set number of tables and customers many of whom have placed, paid for and ordered hours earlier Only 2 waiters and staff trying to manage over 15 tables, no fault of those 2 staff as they were just overworked and tried thier best, they should have had at least 4 to 5 waiters/staff to serve this many tables and guests 1 main guy at main till area was very rude when asked for help as he walked past, simply shrugged off with rude response that we are very busy and its iftari time so he couldn't help right now and had to wait again for another waiter to respond about missing food Services charge already included in bill and had to be paid in advance online with no option of removing it beforehand and quite embarrassing to having to ask for it to be removed at the till at the end. How can you charge 12.5% for a service charge upfront which was nearly £15 for us when we dont know how good the food or service might be until we have tried it and then decide if to leave a tip or service charge, despite this i still left £7 from the £12 or so pounds the guy returned to me in cash from the till in the hope that at least the staff may get it
When spending over £100 with a a family of 2 adults and 2 kids, service and attitude should be much better Only 1 positive for this place is a staff member named Aisha i think who tried to accommodate as best as she could and help out each time even though she looked overworked and too busy too
As a young family with 2 young children aged 12 and 10 and toddler aged 3, we regularly take the kids and love to try new places especially diner style restaurants, but unfortunately we will definitely not visit again based on this experience and i will definitely go out of my way and not recommend this place to everyone possible
Places like this in busy areas especially this part of east london probably are not bothered with bad reviews and bad service they give because they are so used to being fully booked and always busy so disregard any negative comments they recieve as they have so much footfall and think they have made a name for themselves, but in my opinion even if i dissuade 1 person or 1 family from wasting thier time and money here and go elsewhere for better value for money then i think its actually saved someone from a similar experience to ours, Was a much better service when you guys were in Beckton and how much we miss MyLahore now compared...
Read moreI remember the OG Big Moe’s from Beckton, when the food was amazing and you wanted to keep on going back for more. Each meal was full of wonderful surprises and was the go to place for gatherings or intimate dinners.
Sadly, having moved to Ilford, it’s lost its charm in terms of quality of food and customer service. You could say there is better food out there nowadays and competition, especially in Ilford, is stiff.
The food was very mediocre. Most of the starters seemed like frozen food bought from Farm Foods which was fried to order.
We had the grilled chicken for mains. Given the restaurant is situated next to Nando’s you’d think they’d want to compete with the best. Unfortunately very underwhelming and no marinade had seeped in beneath the skin. Portion sizes were below average.
The saviour was the soft swirl ice cream which for £1.99 was very good!
Drinks were very average. Non-branded due to boycotts so wasn’t expecting much.
Service could have redeemed the visit somewhat but each person we came across was as clueless as the next. Basic fundamentals such as providing plates for us to eat on seemed like rocket science. At one point we waited several minutes just for plates that could fit the mains (she came over with tiny ones at first). We literally had to force them to take our order and the place wasn’t even busy at 3pm. Employing staff who struggle to grasp basic requests isn’t the one for paying customers.
It was disappointing to see that the fixtures and fittings were simply moved from the Beckton branch to Ilford. As such, the furniture had seen better days and was mostly torn and worn out. Improved cleaning standards would help as the seats and tables were filthy but this doesn’t seem to be a priority for staff.
The only reviews that seem to be hyping up this place are food reviewers who have been paid for their meals and reviews. They seem to have visited a completely different establishment than what we experienced. Don’t be fooled by the pictures as lighting can deceive.
There is scope for this place to be brilliant, much like it used to be in Beckton. But it would require staff training, improved cleaning practices and ensuring the food is freshly prepared, not frozen re-heated. For this price point, there are plenty of better options a stones throw from Clements Road.
The owners need to stop living off the reputation this place had 15+ years ago. The industry has moved on and so have people’s expectations. I regretted my visit today as it didn’t live up to my expectations and that nostalgic feel just didn’t materialise at all....
Read moreVisit with caution! ⚠️ Not the best visit. Unfortunately they lied about the car booth being 'reserved' and didn't update me and placed me somewhere else, felt duped into settling into another area hoping I would forget. Was still waiting for the car booth as no one turned up and the place was pretty empty with just a few others dining. They got caught out at the lie and tried to cover it up - shameful.
The kids chicken nuggets (frozen) were diabolical. Please avoid them! See pics attached. I wasn't expecting them to be this bad. They looked grey inside.
Main menu is only served after 1:30PM apparently? SO bizarre! Brunch and dessert menu only until 1:30PM so was very limited when I arrived at 1PM.
Gave the feedback to Rish the manager about the nuggets and the lies that I was told about the car being reserved by the initial lady who sat me down. This is probably their policy so she is very well aware of it.
Rish was good at diffusing the situation and apologetic but by that point had already ruined my visit but needed to feed the children. Rish provided complimentary ice cream which was appreciated and was able to listen to my feedback.
I also noticed only after I left I was charged service charge which I usually am happy to pay but would have absolutely taken off on this occasion due to the poor experience I had!
I created my own breakfast. Beef sausages, mushrooms and beef bacon were really nice. Baked beans were not nice, really bland and lacked flavour. Must be the cheapest can of baked beans.
Kids Chicken Nuggets - should be a hazard to be allowing this quality to be given to children. There are much more better frozen pack of nuggets out there! Change your supplier!
Was looking forward to visiting Big Moes again regularly but glad I won't be.
Unfortunately a lot of these influencers are either paid or enticed with free food and are not honestly reviewing the food or service!
Halal food. Not the best quality food for the prices they charge. Nice decor and atmosphere Array of ice cream and dessert options They do...
