I had fish and chips and a chicken leg. The fish (cod) was delicious — flaky and light, yet meaty. The piece I had was thick, and and easily sliceable, per the photo below (which Erik did not know I was taking — with him and the fish). The chicken leg was juicy, pleasantly spiced, and tasty. Erik and Sha (pictured) are delightful, efficient, and willing to please. I requested extra crispy chips, and I got them. The black and white photos hanging inside are of this shop I guess around 100 years ago. I’m not sure where the camels in Blackheath came from.

I recently had the unfortunate experience of visiting this fish and chip shop, and I have to say it was the worst meal I've ever had. The fries were drenched in oil, soggy, and tasted absolutely awful. The fish was even worse, with a strong dirty oil smell that made it completely inedible. It was clear that the oil used was old and poorly maintained. Overall, it was a highly disappointing experience, and I will never be going back. Avoid this place at all costs!

I've tried twice this place. And I decided never try this shop again. Batter is so bad, chips are worst ever tasted. The fish is not fresh at all. The location is perfect and I can't understand why the owner let the food in this condition. + over priced fish and chips!

Truly Awful Food - Don't Go There Called in at about 9 pm on 6th November 2019 as it only around the corner. Found they no longer sell beans so bought large chips only (wrapped) for £2,90 I think. A different vibe than ever before and I didn't recognise the bloke serving yet he claims to have run the pace for 3 years.

On the way home I caught a whiff of old oil over the vinegar. When I unwrapped the chips the smell of rancid oil was much much stronger. We tried to eat the chips but neither of us could stomach more than 2 or 3!!! Had to throw them away.

Truly the worst Chips I've ever had. Gutted I had to award 1 start and if there was a - star rating I would award -5.

If you are left in any doubt about the quality of the establishment let me clarify: AWFUL...

Blackheath Fish and Chips is awful. I'm sure the only reason they're still in business is the lack of competition in Blackheath (there's no where else that does takeaway fast food) and the prime location directly opposite the train station.

Everything is overpriced, and the quality is low. The chips are the proper chip shop variety, but they're always served soggy, and they have the audacity to charge for little sachets if you want ketchup!

There's also battered sausages, burgers and other rubbish which is best avoided. I've never tried the fish, as I expect I'll be disappointed.

Unfortunately, as there's no other real alternative after getting off the train in Blackheath after a drunken night out, I still occasionally buy some...

If I could leave 0 stars, I would! Ordered 2 "Cod". WARNING They do NOT sell cod here! I was a chef for 3 years and cooked with fish a lot. In particular PANGASIUS fish which is what they are trying to pass off as cod! I can tell Pangasius fish from a mile away. It's cheaper, looks more translucent, and is less firm than cod. Disgusting that they charge almost £6 for a fish that costs half as much as cod. Also ordered their hot wings. 5 hot wings they advertise for £3.95 and was told by the guy at the counter that they were fresh. In the bag was FOUR hot wings and they were about as fresh as Stonehenge! Cold dry and solid on the inside too, absolutely awful. Chips were very mediocre, quite soggy even and the gravy was thicker than...
