Went along for a private tasting session as part of the Czech Beer Club. First up I should admit I'm not a lager or indeed a pilsner fan but always eager to expand my horizons and a tutored tasting session didn't seem a bad idea..until I was on my 7th half and wishing I'd not been so adventurous.
The beers were good as was the stories behind them but sadly too much lager for me to appreciate in one sitting. I very much enjoyed the darker beers, Raven and Agnes but the rest I'll leave to those who'll appreciate them more than I will.

Read moreThis is excellent! A brilliant little start up bar with genuine Czech lagers and ales and some tasty Gin to boot. I felt like I was back in the little streets of Ceske Krumlov taking in the whole East European experience back in 1990 when I first went there. It's a very basic bar, all stools and mini tables and outside a sort of deck with tables made of beer barrels, but it's great fun, the music is good and our host was very quick to serve our beers and produce a few crisps to go with it. Read moreWe popped into Bohem Tap Room as it was one of the breweries featured in the 2025 Beer Passport. The space itself is small but very welcoming and cosy, on a very nice street within metres of the train station. Even for people who aren't massive lager drinkers, the beers we had were both excellent, but the 'Nicholas' black lager was a real standout.
