Bush Hill Park — Restaurant in London

The bar staff are very good and you can get served very quickly (hence the 4 stars) but if you try and engage with them the landlord intervenes and chastises both them and the customer! Appreciate that he wants the service to be efficient but I was the only one at the bar on this occasion. Am susprised he has anyone working for him given how awful he is to them. Am assuming it is a free house and not brewery owned otherwise those staff should put in a formal complaint as there must be some employment law to protect them from the abuse he dishes out. A lot of other posts on here about similar experiences with the landlord so these aren't isolated incidents. This has the potential to be a really good pub but not whilst that landlord is at the helm. I doubt he would listen but someone needs to tell him that pubs thrive on customer service and alcohol is not the only reason people go to pubs. If he is not the owner, then the owner should take heed! I would rather not go there any more but it's convenient for the train on match days. Was denied entry by a very provocative and self aggrandising individual stood in the doorway that told me “no fundraisers allowed” when I said I wasn’t trying to enter the establishment to fundraise he said, “but you’re with them? It’s my establishment and we don’t allow fundraisers”

This felt racially motivated to me as not only was a dressed in a shirt and trousers (not branded fundraising attire), this is the first time in my LIFE I’ve been denied entry to somewhere based on my choice of employment!

Appalling to think that in a major city like London that is so ethnically and culturally diverse, we still have such abhorrent behaviour in big big 2025…
