I had a strange experience here. I ordered a breakfast, which was OK, but part way through eating I noticed something blue on the bread which looked to be mould. I alerted the waitress and she took the meal away. The staff were pleased to tell me that it wasn't mould and it was blue roll from when they have been cleaning the surfaces. It seemed they felt this would be OK. I explained I still wasn't happy whether it was mould or blue roll. I'd rather not eat paper with cleaning products on it. The other customers in the cafe were advising me that I shouldnt pay for the meal and I didnt imagine that the manager would want payment after I ate a quarter and it was taken away with the blue roll. My coffee was nice but the price is steep for what it was. When I approached the counter to pay for my coffee the manager rang up the full price for my breakfast and coffee. I reminded her my breakfast was the one with the blue roll. She said oh yes of course, and took £1 off the bill. ONE POUND!. I said this isn't acceptable, I didn't eat my breakfast and have been giving a meal with cleaning products included. I expected that I wouldn't pay for the little bit of spinach and a mushroom I ate. The manager then only required payment for the coffee. Despite this experience, I have heard great things about cafe 108 and would try it again. The other customers in the cafe said there has been a change in owner or management and things have nose dived due to that. However this is the first time I've visited the cafe, so I can only speak at length about my own experience. My friend who ate with me had a great meal...

Came here with my daughter on Wednesday 4th September for lunch. We were served by the lovely Sam and Ali. Both were friendly and polite, couldn't have asked for a better service. We both enjoyed our meals...I had the Egg Royale and Sweet Potato Fries and a Cappuccino and my daughter had Breakfast Muffin with Fries and Raspberry Dream Smoothie... I had a taste and it was refreshing and delicious. There was music playing in the background, a nice little touch, playing tunes I enjoyed from childhood and still enjoy. There is a restroom at the back, that's clean with pleasant decor. The dining area is clean with lovely modern decor andt there's the added bonus of seating outside. The ambience was relaxing with decent customers/diners. Not surprised It was quite busy, given the extensive menu, tasty freshly made food and lovely service, even the chef said goodbye to us and was friendly. Well deserved five stars! Will...

I do not normally expect an English high street cafe to make Eggs Benedict/Florentine, let alone great ones. Well, I am wrong and I am very pleased to admit it. Café 108 exceeded my expectations today. I ordered Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine, a green smoothie, a cappuccino and a double espresso, all to take away. From the good tin foil containers that keep the food warm to the awesome coffee in the paper cups - everything was great. Lastly I would like to note how friendly and efficient the lady at the counter was. I felt relaxed and well looked after. It is obvious that the good small family owned coffee shop revolution is a fact (do I have to say I very much prefer small family owned quality coffee shops to big corporate owned chains?). It was my first time ordering food at Café 108 but it definitely won’t be the last. What about you?

It was absolutely awful. The waitress was very rude when we ordered the children’s meal, we was not asked if we wanted a milkshake or a drink and scoop of ice cream. we had to ask to be served as we was waiting for some time with no one coming over to us. The children’s meal we ordered was cheese pasta which I imagined to be in some kind of cheese sauce, but it was the cheapest spaghetti and margarita cheese you could find just slapped in a bowl and put in the microwave to heat up. The breakfast wasn’t very hot and the man that brought the food over, just slapped it on the table and walked off without even a smile or any kind of acknowledgement. Even when I said thank you, it’s like he didn’t even care for any kind of manners. I will not be returning to this place as it’s not a friendly environment.

Update to bean Gate. The Beans are now served in a container. Photo attached. Review for the breakfast. Lovely fresh high quality ingredients and very well cooked. I have one complaint that prevented 5 stars being awarded. The baked beans were just poured into the tray along with the rest of the food rather than in their own container. For delivery that meant my meal arrived a bit of soggy mess. When I asked the staff about this the lady said they always do that. Come on guys this is just plain wrong. Who wants to eat something after its been swimming in bean juice for over 10 minutes? Need to sort that out.
