Lovely little gem of an establishment on Ardleigh Green Road. Now, let me get this clear. I love my quality espresso and brunch food. I tend to benchmark different cafes and restaurants by ordering a double espresso and Eggs Benedict.

Well, today I went out for a stroll and some food and coffee. When presented with the unique opportunity to brunch at the local ā€œbuilders cafā€ and the new (I haven’t been here before, and I believe they opened in November 2022, so fairly new)The Waffle Bar, it was a case of basic human curiosity. I knew what to expect at the ā€œbuilders cafā€ but did not know the hidden cosiness and comfort that awaited me at the latter.

So, The Waffle Bar it is then.

My first impressions upon entry. Wait, is this where Barbie and Ken would have brunch and coffee? Lovely, clean, cosy, neat, and … wait for this one…air conditioned. I know this isn’t much of e perk in rainy Britain, but hey, on a hot day like this I’d rather have it cool.

The smiling owner greeted me and explained the menu. Great vegan and vegetarian options, together with breakfast and brunch staples, sandwiches and … waffles šŸ˜€.

Food impressions. Espresso - beautiful. I have Ethiopian coffee beans in my coffee machine. Guess what were the beans in their coffee machine 😃. Yep, awesome taste.

I ordered the veggie breakfast option. My first question - how do you make an ordinary toast taste like you are having a toast for the first time in your life? That was one great tasting toast. Full stop. Two poached eggs, baked beans, grilled halloumi, sliced avocado and grilled cherry tomatoes completed my breakfast plate. Everything was delicious. The halloumi and cherry tomatoes were a nice touch. Thank you.

Quality sparkling water from a glass bottle. I asked for some chilli flakes and low and behold, I got chilli flakes. Brilliant!

The only recommendation I have is to include Eggs Benedict and to add some Extra Virgin Olive Oil to their stocks for weird picky customers like me. But that’s just a tiny drop of OK in the ocean of BRILLIANT I would like to award The Waffle Bar.

I felt very peaceful and comfortable, had a delicious spot of brunch, had a lovely little chat about coffee with the owner. I could not help but reach for my phone to take a few photos and leave a review.

Highly recommended to everyone who values their quality food...

Came here for my daughters birthday breakfast and was really disapointed amd will not be returning. Firstly, it was freezing in there. The boy behind the counter didn't even acknowledge us which was awkward so we just sat down and asked for menus ourselves. The table was dirty even though the restaurant had not been open long enough for someone to have been there before us, so must have been left dirty over night. My 13 year old daughter had a breakfast and said the sausages where bad and the egg was undercooked and just ate the beans and. My husband had egg in toast and before it even landed on the table, whilst still in the ladies hand, you could see a thick black hair. He didn't get another replacement for this as was put off. I had a toasties that was bland and the sauce inside had made the bread mushy and wet like inside. My mum had avocado and she said it was nice. Wasn't the breakfast we was expecting. The decor is cute but that's about it. Our bill came to £78 which I wouldn't warrant £20 for the quality of the food and cooking. The atmosphere was the same as the temperature- cold. Such a shame as could be a such a lovely place to visit regularly but unfortunately, its a...

I visited the waffle bar yesterday, I ofterrn do as my wife works there.and the service.and food.is superb. Unfortunately my visit yesterday was ruined by a spoilt family ,who because the staff where unable to seat them in the window instantly ( tables were reserved) I overheard them state they would deliberately make.complaint.to ruin this business and blamed the lighting!!! Additionally, my wife is entitled to offer her husband, myself a staff discount on his food. What has upset me the.most as there was 5 members of my family eating yesterday, I had just recieved news that I have terminal.cancer and we visited the waffle.bar because it is such a nice relaxing place to eat and hosted by a lovely family who are very considerate. Please post my review and pass a copy to Chelsea hunt, who I request be banned from reviewing on Google for.making false statements pending...

I pass this place nearly everyday and it looks so pretty so me and my husband decided to give it a go. We waited nearly 50 minutes for a small waffle with hardly any strawberries and banana on it. The cafe wasnt even that busy. Me and my husband had a waffle each and a americano and water, and it came to Ā£35. Was a waste of money to be honest, and time. I could have made better at home. Oh and- the waffles weren’t even warm.

We went for the veggie breakfast, latte and strawberry waffle. It was good and served hot. Staff were really good and we did enjoy it. The only thing was the price. Considering this is not in Central London, but was matching breakfast prices in Central London. Portion sizes were ok. Good one for the locals around.
