Elly's Cafe — Restaurant in London

I used to go here every other week because the service provided by Eunice & his brothers, & the extended team, outweighed the negatives. However, their recent increases of all the prices means the above is no longer the case.

Previously, you could get a breakfast for just over six quid. - that was a bit steep for the quality of food they used, but you’d get a big portion and excellent service.

Upon my last visit I noticed that their prices had increased ( understandable given the challenges currently being faced ) but their two biggest breakfast offerings didn’t have a price written next to them like the others… I thought to myself this is a bit cheeky but perhaps they had forgotten. Anyway for the same breakfast that used to cost me just over six quid, I was charged closer to the £9 mark… The quality of the food means it just isn’t worth this amount despite the pros of the amazing, friendly, and fast service you become accustomed to from the team here.

They use those horrible catering sausages which just taste cheap and bland, & the rest of the food isn’t much better.

I can no longer recommend this place as good value, in fact I suggest people check out a cafe in Purley called O'Farol -(15 minute walk from this cafe) - they use top quality ingredients and it’ll only set you back a tenner. Worth the extra £1.50 approx in my book.

To the team. Please consider getting in better quality produce, especially move away from serving those terrible catering sausages & I’d have no issue paying £10+ on your breakfasts.

Really friendly staff & big portions but the food quality is disappointing. Hence the three stars.

The reason I’m giving three stars is because the food is dirt cheap— Cheap bacon & awful cardboard sausages. It’s frustrating that they have made the decision to serve this poor quality food because their customer service is excellent.

To the owners, if you’re reading this, please think about getting better quality sausages & bacon in. I’d happily pay £7-£8 for a full English if you do this & i’d Come in more often.

I had yet another all round 5 star experience in Elly's cafe again today with a set 5 breakfast that was cooked fast and served with care and love. It seems that the staff know everyone who enter or at least make you feel special and an old friend. I'm astonished how hard they work as a team & gel well even when the cafe is busy & almost full. The presence of many regular bus drivers who have a long walk to the cafe from the depot confirms the quality of the food and the attraction of the 'Elly experience'. Most of the local traders on Brighton Rd choose to eat here too. I'm amazed how the family do it so well because the menu is extensive and it can get v busy to full.. Well...

I tried the cafe for the first time a month ago, and having tried several cafes around the area, THIS IS THE BEST ONE BY FAR, BECAUSE THEY ARE SOOOO FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL, POLITE, THEY DO VERY LOVELY FOOD, FRESH, AND THE PORTIONS ARE SO BIG,SO IF U ARE HUNGRY YOURL IN FOR A TREAT, AND IF YOU CANNOT EAT IT ALL, they will always put it in a little box for you, VERY REASONABLE PRICES, LOTS TO CHOOSE FROM THE MENU, LOVELY DINNER, and it says something when my parents travels 15 miles, just to go to the cafe, and they look forward to going there as well , I COULD NOT FAULT THE SERVICE, AND ITS WITH A SMILE..... EVERYTHING IS FIVE STAR IN MY OPINION DAWN, MAC ,...
