Inconsistent Quality of Egusi Soup; Mixed Experiences I have frequented Enish Croydon delivery service three times now, primarily for their egusi soup. The first experience left me delighted with its delicious taste. However, my subsequent visits were disappointing, to say the least. On my second and third orders, the egusi soup was excessively oily and practically inedible. Regrettably, I had to discard it due to concerns about food quality and health implications. This inconsistency in food quality is concerning and discourages repeat patronage. Despite my disappointing experiences at Enish Croydon, I must acknowledge my positive encounters with Enish Old Kent Road and their Dubai branch. Dining in at these locations has consistently been a pleasant experience, with satisfactory food quality and service. In conclusion, while I've had mixed experiences with Enish establishments, I hope that Enish Croydon can address their issues with food consistency to maintain their reputation for serving delicious Nigerian cuisine. (Note: This review is based on my personal experiences and may not reflect the opinions of others.)

Our first time here. Wás celebrating my birthday. The food was just ok. We had moi moi, jollof rice and lamb suya. Moi moi was tasty but dry. The moi moi I make is much better. The jollof rice tasted fine, however the beef was very grisly and chewy. The lamb suya was awful. Most of the meat was fatty. Suya is supposed to be made with lean cuts of meat or most of the fat rendered. We were initially told they had sparkling water. But, they gave us a bottle of still water. We did not realize this until we unscrewed the top. It would have been nice if they could have at least informed us beforehand that they ran out. The best part of the meal was my Star beer. Very impersonal service having to order via a QR code at the table. After ordering our meal, I decided to have a beer. I asked the waiter and he said I needed to place an order using the QR code. At the end, we received 2 separate paper checks that weren't totaled together. We added it up ourselves. Interesting that we have to order using the app, but don't pay on it. We handed the credit card to the waiter. Whoever heard of a restaurant that doesn't serve coffee?

I spent a nice day here catching up with friends. I ordered the jollof rice with beef which was nice, portion size is good. The fried yam was enjoyed by my friends. My friend ordered her's jollof with three meets, what she received was a bony piece of beef. A piece of tripe and a jelly bone of unrecognisable origin. I would have expected 3 meats to be chicken. Beef and lamb or pork. Not everybody likes tripe that should be specified as they are not good at substituting things. I wanted the tilapia but I wanted it with jollof which I was told no. My daughter order white rice on its own and it cost £8.99! the same price as the jollof this is ridiculous! White rice is a basic and should be at the most £5. The soft drinks are expensive. The Fanta was £4.99 I know things are going up but come on that was ridiculous. All the soft drinks are expensive, I won't even go to the J20 which is closer to £10 at £6, far to expensive than I would like. The customer service was good and I like the call bell on the table. Also I would suggest children portions should be offered with prices to match.

Absolutely disappointed by the service, the white guy working there is absolutely rude from the begging to the end. First when we entered the restaurant the girl wasn’t aware we had reservation, he had to come and ask the same stupid questions as her and clearly no one was aware about our booking. The girl who also was assisting us when she was asked for something just ignored us. At the restraint was very very hot and no AC at this weather ….. when we ask if they can turn on the AC of course was some look at us and then she said something no one knows what but still no AC. There was another young boy who served us he was amazing.

Talking rude to customers who are regular and loyal to Enish and years after been visiting and ordering food from Enish that was my last time and obviously last time order food online or visit.

When my food was taken away even I asked the waiter can you not take plates while people are outside I was disappointed to come back and my food was missing when I asked where is my plate that silly guy came to tell me yeah it’s been taken away because you didn’t have much. I said I made a request not to be taken and he was still explaining to me that there is not much food left. So he offered to bring a new meal and I agreed. When he came he slide the plate to me with the words - Here you go that’s the rest of your food. And yes when I look at the plate that’s was a joke I had less than I left at the first time.

I have never seen that before when a waiter offer the replace your mail to bring 2 bites for compensation.

Well done Enish I had the worst experience and after nearly 5 years of loyalty and my family been enjoying your food. It’s time to goodbye and try new Nigerian...

OMG I have been dining at this establishment literally since it opened and although we have noticed a steady decline, in service and the decor of the place - nevertheless, we always like to support local business but, yesterday's service really was too much.

The waiter's face look so unfriendly - but that is normal for him and his manner is somewhat wanting. Firstly, we arrived early on a Saturday evening, before peak time, they had already run out of, or didn't have the soup I wanted, no explanation as to why and no offer of an alternative just the rather large menu shoved up my nose. I will add...This had happened before on my previous visit, however then, server did all she could and succeeded in getting the kitchen to make the soup as other customers were asking for the same. So I decided I would not eat a main meal but still have the appetiser Suya whilst my husband settled for another soup so we waited patiently for the food to arrive.

The Suya came and can you believe it??? It was STONE COLD in this winter weather!!! (Chaiii!!!) I couldn't eat it and told the waiter he looked so sheepish. There was a lot of to-ing and fro-ing to the kitchen and back and neither the manager or the staff member could be bothered approach us to apologise. But they had the cheek to charge £3.99 for the Malt drink. We left disgusted.

However, we decided to go to the other branch of Enish in Lewisham. The difference was night & day. The service was fantastic. The food delicious served on time and hot. And guess what??? They even asked me if I enjoyed the food??? Who knew? This is 2023 folks as a service Enish Croydon was poor and disappointing.

Enish Croydon...You must do better...Make it...

So, this restaurant newly opened near me, and having a Nigerian heritage, wished to patronize and support it, and made it my local 'go to ' restaurant.

I made the mistake of ordering a takeaway from there just now. First, the portions are only c.60% of the sit down ones (really!). Secondly, I ordered 3 meals, but only 2 were put in the bag we were given - never thought it was a good idea to stand there and open every single container in the bag!

Third, the food was microwaved to the point where part of it looked burnt. This was a wake up call about being careful as to where one eats - we all know how unsafe it is to microwave food in plastic containers, yet it seems we'd just paid for someone else to give us potentially dangerous food. The thought of migrating plastics put me off the food so much that I could only have a few mouthful!

Lastly, after calling c. 12 times, the phone was eventually answered by the manager. He said the Chef said the 3rd meal was in the bag!!! When I was adamant it hadn't been, he asked if I would return to collect the missing meal - which also apparently wasn't in the restaurant or kitchen either (?!?).

When I asked him to send it, he apologetically told me they didn't have z private car service (!!!). I am lost for words, but I think my days of patronising this restaurant are well and truly over. He asked us to come back for a refund when I told him a "credit" for the meal just wouldn't cut it. I wonder how they will refund the amount, as we have no intention of driving there just for that.

Either way, beware if you order a...
