We had our first visit to the newly opened Everest Spice Lounge in Feltham today (formerly the Airman pub, which we’ve used for 25 years). Lots of good things to mention (especially the food), a few things to tweak but it’s early days so we’ll let them off.
Firstly, the service and greeting is very warm and welcoming. There’s a good atmosphere and there were lots of families and couples enjoying themselves.
Some of the staff seem inexperienced and a bit nervous, I’m sure some of the minor issues will improve quickly. My son’s dish was missed off the order and that came late, with apologies, which was disappointing (I would have asked them to remove it from the bill but missed the bill arriving and being paid).
The food was fantastic and came at a nice gentle pace, we didn’t feel rushed at all. All dishes were cooked well and were tasty and fresh.
The only downside for us was the toilets. It’s obvious that a lot of effort has been put into redecorating inside and out, but nothing has been done to the disgusting toilets which have had the same issues for the best part of two decades. My only request would be to rip out the old leaky crap and to retile & repaint the loos, and replace the old urinals, cubical doors etc. My wife said the ladies were the same as the mens, as my mum says you can’t have a classy establishment with minging toilets! Gents floor was soaking wet and hand dryer not working, ladies still has a hole in one cubicle door from a long time ago.
All in all very good and we’ll be back again soon. Lollipop chicken was an awesome starter, we had 6 main courses between us and they were all great. Naans were light and fluffy, mushroom rice...
Read moreWe heard this new restaurant opened and went there to rate food and trust me food is on different level with no taste at all. We ordered chatpate where there is no spicy to called as chatpate. We also ordered lamb chops which is ok and chicken wings doesn’t taste good. Garlic spicy Mogo is not tasty as it’s so hard that we need to press hard on fork to eat. We ordered jhol momo which is not good at all, never had taste like that before. We ordered 3 chicken steam momo and one plate momo came as veg momo and waiter told us that it’s chicken momo. I opened momo and show them look here it’s veg than chef came and told me it’s chicken momo as I opened from chicken momo packet from Gurkha momo. I showed them look you can see but how the chef knows it’s veg or chicken if he just prepared from frozen momo which he bought from shops. Seriously restaurant don’t make momo by their own and they charge £9.99 for momo with 8 pieces. That is very awful and tasteless dinner experience for us. Just a request please change chef and make tasty food otherwise you won’t hear...
Read moreA hidden gem. Tucked down in the basement of a hotel in a forgotten corner of Bayswater, this place quietly serves memorably superb Indian dishes. The house special chicken curry (made with juicy, long-simmered meat) was special indeed, the dal equally so. Everything was sumptuous but never greasy or heavy, and clearly made with fresh, quality ingredients.
Though the menu didn't mention it (perhaps it is not offered on busier nights?), our dinner began with a complimentary lassi amuse-bouche and basket of feather-light papadum with a thick, clear mango chutney and ended with a perfect little scoop of flavorful vanilla ice cream topped with crushed pistachios.
Although our visit was on a warm fall Saturday evening when streets and restaurants everywhere were jammed, Balti had ample room and welcomed us warmly. Highly...
