I liked the Feltham Travelodge. I stayed there on two ocassions, because it's usually one of cheaper Travelodge options in London.
I don't think I've ever been to a hotel that was better located in regards to local shops.
Within feet of the hotel's front entrance there's a range of top line stores at customers' disposal. It's very impressive.
The way hotel is situated in regards to the nearby Feltham station is also impressive, and more importantly convenient. While I'm not a fan of mindless gentification, the area's regeneration is evident and seems to be being carried out thoughtfully. The hotel is right in the centre of it.
The first time I stayed at Feltham Travelodge the TV remote didn't work in my room. So I was moved. However, the next room smelt like nicotine because the people next door found a way to somehow smoke. So I kindly asked to be moved again - and that room was fine.
Throughout this process the hotel's staff were patient and accommodating with me and my needs.
The second time I stayed at the hotel, the room I was initially allocated to wasn't cleaned. There seemed to be miscommunication within the team about its status. It wasn't the first time the team didn't all seem to be on the same page. Still, I was then upgraded to a family room because it was one of the few rooms left available.
I had a very immersive view of Heathrow from the room I settled in during my first stay, and a nice view of London City on my second visit.
The main issue I had at the hotel was with other guests at the site - and nothing seemed to be done about it.
On my first visit, children were running up and down the corridors. Children were knocking on other guests' doors and running off. Families who were divided in separate rooms would gather in the corridors and have full on conversations, and no one did anything about it.
If anyone indicated that they didn't want these disturbances, the intensity of the disturbances would simply increase.
Sometimes they'd target the floor's stronger personalities. It was not relaxing, and it was not what I paid for. It was just embrassing. It was liked I had paid to live in someone else's living room.
The were still indicators of this on my second visit as well. Except on this occasion, when I showed signs of protest against the kind of disturbances I describe above, I would begin to smell strong, pungent cooking smells whenever I rested. Children seemed to run up and down the corridors just as my room went quiet, as I tried to relax. It was a joke. The perpetrators had zero fear of any consequences.
It didn't ruin my entire stay, but it was shocking to pay good money to experience and be exposed to that.
I am sure these people were not paying money to stay there. I believe that they were placed there by some entity. I don't...
Read moreThis is an "OK" place. It is however overpriced, but most places are in July, in London
I found the customer service to be perfectly fine, but it was shocking that they didn't even have a fridge or a microwave. Their breakfast at the hotel costs £9/person/ day which is just ridiculous given that it's right outside an Asda, Starbucks, Costa and McDonalds
They obviously haven't considered that their pricing despite this. It is at least incredibly close to amenities, including public transport.
The rooms didn't have a fridge or a microwave and there was no communal version of that either, so you couldn't exactly store anything in there. It might be just a one star place, but I've definitely been in much cheaper places that provide some things as basic as that.
The towels aren't automatically replaced either every day, unless you put a tag on the door to say "Please replace the towels" The shower facilities also lacked shampoo / conditioner. It had a shower gel thing however
The coffee/teabags and milk were replaced daily (as long as you had the sign out), but the mugs weren't cleaned at all. We basically "cleaned" the mugs by using the sink and washing it with hot water, not getting it completely clean, given a lack of a sponge / washing up liquid.
The room itself however was fairly decent, and had plenty of room, along with plenty of plugs, as well as fast USB ones. WiFi was also pretty fine though I booked for three people, and it said my code gives me max two devices, and that code is for three people too.
I also saw no fountain anywhere in the building which again, cheaper places definitely have got, not that I particularly liked drinking the tap water from the sink given how terrible it tastes. You can at least however pop to the Asda and get water from there so...
Read moreWe had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Travelodge London Feltham on the 13 July 2018 for one night, and we took out the family room.
It was late when we got there and were told on arrival that we were lucky to be staying here as there are not more rooms available at the hotel due to demand.
The hotel was quite dated, but we didn’t mind that as we only needed a room for a few hours and would be out after first thing.
However, upon entering the room, a pungent waft of urine filled our mouths and nostrels. Not a great mix when it is the hottest summer for a while! At first we thought it was coffee, but later realised it was due to an unflushed toilet. Anyway, we were incredibly tired and had managed to clear the smell after 30 mins of window and door opening in the searing heat. However, the next morning when we explained our scenario to reception, they apologised and offered us voucher for our next stay. As kind as that offer was, we replied and said we would never stay at a Travelodge again and wanted to talk to the manager instead. Reception desk told us they would send us details via email and we could get in touch that way. That didn’t materialise, so I waited a few days and took to Twitter to reach out instead. Upon tweeting the first time, ‘Charley’ responded asking if I could direct message. Having done this I got nothing back after reaching out, and now I am have to turn to review websites to get my complaint heard.
Hopefully this will bring forward my scenario and I will get to speak to the manager of Travelodge London Feltham to discuss this further. Just be weary, it’s not a great...
