I was invited to a private birthday celebration at this restaurant [11/9]. We were asked to pre-ordered due to the number of diners.
A friend and I arrived early hoping to have pre-lunch drinks but the establishment wasn't open which was sad. However the management explained that they were ensuring that everything was sanitized prior to opening. We had our drinks at a local bar upon returning the atmosphere was lively
Prior to lunch we ordered cocktails which were good and fairly priced.
Rosemary bread [freshly baked] was served with salted butter - delicious and we could have ate more.
The starter was crispy prawns on a bed of crispy noodles and assorted salad leaves
My main course consisted of lobster, mac n cheese and salad leaves. I ordered a side of broccoli.
Desert was a gooey chocolate Brownie with chocolate sauce and ice cream...
The cost of the set menu was £37 with a supplement of £4 for the lobster and a choice of extra plates chips, veg, salads etc from about £3.
The ambiance was good [we had a DJ] and the staff were attentive. Would definitely eat here again.... and since then I have TWICE!!!🙈
This place is definitely becoming a firm favourite of mine. I was here 7/10 and again on 14/10... last week I had oxtail ravioli - lovely, lamb shank [that fell off the bone and melted in the mouth] with a smooth, sweet potato mash, harrisa and pickled vegetables. I was full but just about managed to squeeze in a sorbet triple of mango, raspberry and lime.
This week my starter was chicken lollipops, delicious and for my main course I enjoyed pan fried seabass with a crab croquette, sticky rice, mango salsa. Seems I ate it before i took the photo 🙊🙊🤣. The dessert mango parfait, coconut cake, peach jewels came in a jewellery box and needs to be tasted to be believed it was just right not too sweet.
The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. The second time I visited I mentioned how impressed I was with the bread and butter [both vegan and made on the premises] and wanted to order it again. It was explained to me that it is not generally available... however this time i was greeted on my 3rd visit with bread and butter made specially for my visit 🫂.... the owner recognised me when I made the 3rd reservation and surprised me. Not too many restaurants go to those lengths to accommodate a client... looking forward to...
Read moreVisited with family & friends! The Person greeting us at the door which I can only assume was the Owner was very polite and made sure Covid Safety Measures were taken very seriously, which can be respected. The Cocktails where lovely, had a small issue with a soft drink when I asked for it not to have ice, the drink returned with half a cup and when I asked for it to be filled up if was returned to me in a cup half the size, very unprofessional. One of the things that I found really perplexing that for a Caribbean inspired bar/restaurant, there was not one Black staff member (other than the owner) The food was even less impressive, personally I thought the 'fusion' inspired food just was too complicated and used to many unnecessary ingredients! I opted for a simple burger, which I didnt enjoy, which was surprising because how wrong can you really go with a burger, again too much going on, the bun was saturated with a mix of unknown and unpleasant sauces. The burger patty tasted over seasoned, and really took the flavours of the beef away. We infact ordered 3 burgers and only 2 managed to make it the table. All in all, not the experience I was expecting. I feel if they used less ingredients and more adequate portions the food would have been better! I had the jerk chicken starter with plantain jam, which surprisingly I enjoyed but again the portion was too small. In terms of it being a small & fairly new business in the local area, and being a black owned business, I would suggest people still attend and...
Read moreThis amazing restaurant in the heart of Catford has true quality. From the time I walked ,just knew it would be the right place to celebrate my husband’s birthday. At every stage from booking to setting the menu for the evening was well coordinated by the owner. He would lease with me and my daughter and just worked with what we wanted .He is a true gentleman, who a took all the anxiety out of the planning. On the night it was so organised with everyone’s meals being cooked fresh. The presentation of the food was like individual works of art. The starters were consumed with sounds of wow this is delicious, ‘I could just come and sample the starters;, if this what the starters taste like just looking forward to the rest of the menu. The compliments continued to come and I was being asked how I found the restaurant. This was a conscious effort on my part as I like fine dinning, the fusion element of the food makes it well worth a visit. All the staff were excellent and made us all feel that they were included in the party. From the chef to the person making cocktails, they all were part of the ambiance of the place. Well done on staff selection This restaurant deserves all fives stars as they are a true hidden gem in South London. Just note that I for one will be back quite soon as need to try other dishes on the menu that caters for all...
