GAIL's Bakery Barnet — Restaurant in London

Extremely disappointing and really concerning experience.

Although the place wasn't busy, all the empty tables were dirty and some had empty plates, etc. on for the entire time we were there.

The staff was inattentive and got all our orders wrong.

Most shocking was when one of the members of staff took a cake off my plate, having given me the wrong one, and put it back on the shelf to be sold to another customer. This was after I had already eaten from that plate!! It was already weird that she decided to put both my orders (one savoury and one sweet) on the same plate, but I was truly shocked to witness that level of disrespect and lack of hygiene - why put back a cake that was on a plate someone ate from?

I can't recommend this place and unfortunately I'd warn anyone to stay away as there is a clear lack of hygiene at this Gail's branch.

Today's experience left me wholly disappointed...

As the shops are all very different inside, this one is very light with a particularly high ceiling as it was a bank before. Not at all dark or rustic like some of the shops.

The standard is the same although I was left waiting for ages while the young male server served some porridge for a diner. The only other person, a woman then came out to the counter and proceded to serve a man who had just walked in with his young daughter. I let it go as I was in no real hurry.

I expect the cakes and pastries are made to what the customers ask for as there seemed to be less on display than I've seen in other shops but it may have been an illusion....

Not very relaxing if you come with a baby or child and sit in the back. They do not bring your drink to you so you have to either abandon your child while you come back to the front to get your drink or wheel them back and forth in a Pram while trying to carry your hot drink back. Surely staff can just bring your drink to you if you’re there with a baby or child and have to sit at the back if the front is full? Rather visit a cafe elsewhere so I can actually sit and relax and not fret about having to leave my baby alone in a high chair which is dangerous to do. Why is it self serve here? Every other coffee shop or cafe will bring your drink to you if...
