Updated 17th April 2025 It's a bit of the track to get here as the venue is almost in the countryside being on the edge of Wandsworth common but well worth the effort. Seating round 60 guests the Gazette is Cosy and Romantic in its deco offering two snug areas off the main dining room for that more private exsperance Have dined here on two consecutive sundays plus Five other occasions, all seven times this restaurant been busy. Now my eighth a Thursday early afternoon the Venue was quiet This is a very popular venue so best to book in advance to avoid disappointment if coming Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. I Loved the escargot having had them several now but personally I would have liked them in their shells they came service in a large dish holding 12 Frog legs is a person choise very succulent and tasted like chicken Finger bowl is provided Main courses in the past have been Pork Chop with white asparagus was well cooked but again it need a little tweek ,may be with a sweeter sauce to the one it came with but that is down to personal preference . Loved the Lapin which fell off the bone the pate was beautiful the duck mouthwatering and the apple tart Brough back memories of my mothers cooking who was cordon Rouge. Their venison was mouth watering Price wise is moderate to expensive for what one gets Average £45 -£65 person with glass of wine for a three course meal very generous in their portions. Arrive with an empty stomach. Hopefully I will return in the near future with friends having discovered a new favourite venue and look forward to trying out more of their desserts Most helpful staff thankyou to the two ladies who looked after me and to your kitchen. Merci pour un déjeuner des plus agréables

French Restaurant in Wandsworth – Mixed Experience We went here for dinner with high hopes and a love for French food. The restaurant had air con, which was welcome on a warm evening, but it still felt a bit hot inside. We started with oysters, which were fresh and good quality, and a goat’s cheese starter that was absolutely delicious – creamy, tangy, and perfectly balanced. So far, so good. For mains, we all went for the steak bavette. The steaks were juicy, tender, and cooked exactly how we’d asked – really well done in that sense. One odd thing though: one of us ordered the bavette with sauce on top, and it came without any salad. When we asked why, the waiter simply said, “That’s just how it comes if you have the sauce on top.” It wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the menu, and it felt a bit strange to remove part of the dish without telling the customer. We had a bottle of red wine which was smooth and easy to drink, but honestly, it felt overpriced for the type of wine it was. The biggest let-down was the number of flies inside. They kept landing on our food and we were constantly shooing them away, which made it hard to properly enjoy the meal. Overall, the food itself was good – especially the starters and the perfectly cooked steaks – but the warm temperature, the flies, and that odd salad situation meant the experience wasn’t as enjoyable as it could have been.

Terrible experience - would certainly avoid/not go back. I’m unsure whether the food or the service was worse - anything you asked for usually took at least 2 if not 3 attempts before it reached the table. There were only5 or so tables dining there so didn’t seem any reason for it to be so poor. To top off the service the waiter (accidentally, can happen) spilt the onion gravy all over our shoes, legs, shorts, etc - barely an apology, threw some blue roll in our direction and basically a case of ‘clean yourself up, bad luck’. The food itself was average to poor - the steak was extremely average as was the Caesar salad (old leaves etc), but nothing comes close to how bad the (clearly frozen) chips were, tough, chewy etc, and £4 for about 10 chips - photo attached. The other side was equally poor (spinach) and tiny. Shame as a local restaurant that has been around for some time, but woefully disappointing and when we complained about the service/treatment following the damage to clothes etc they couldn’t care less.

We came here on 08/12/23 as a group of 6 for dinner on a Friday evening. I have a dairy allergy so informed the staff and asked to order off the vegan xmas menu in order to avoid dairy all together.

Our booking was for 8pm, we weren't given our table until close to 8:30pm - which was right by the door so most of us were too cold to sit without our jackets on. We then didn't receive our drinks until 9pm. Our starters came out at around 9:50 pm and on top of that my starter had parmesan mixed through the sauce. I asked the waiter to check with the chef if it contains dairy as I had told them about my allergy AND had ordered off the Vegan menu so cheese is the last thing I would expect. The waiter then came back saying it definitely didn't contain anything with dairy. I didn't believe them as I could see large chunks of parmesan in the sauce (and had unfortunately eaten a small piece) so asked them to take the dish back to the chef to check again as it was a very serious issue. The waiter came back with a new version of my starter and said this one is dairy free. Luckily I had my medication with me so I was able to reduce the severity of my reactions but had I come out without them this would be a very different story.

I could not believe how casually they took my allergy, they barely apologised and came up with terrible excuses. The manager then came over and said "it's Friday so we're busy and we're having some problems in the kitchen". This is not a good enough excuse to possibly risk someones life after they have informed you of their allergy.

To make the night worse, shortly after the starters were cleared we were asked if we wanted any desserts. By this point we hadn't even had our mains. When the mains did arrive, the rest of our table were extremely disappointed - the meats were really dry, they gave my friend fries when she had ordered mashed potato and the risotto portion size was very small. By this point most of us gave up. They removed my food from the bill and my friend who sent her food back because it was so dry and had the wrong side.

Overall the night was a disaster. We are all extremely disappointed locals and won't be retuning. I would HIGHLY recommend you avoid coming here if you have any allergies as there is no guarantee they...
