Avoid Avoid, and tell your friends that The Green Man in Putney does not welcome families. Where do we start? Aggressive punters attacking us and verbally abusing my wife in front our toddler (2 1/2) and a management team who actually apologised to the punter (a friend and regular apparently) who attempted to strangle me.
We took our toddler and elderly (and disabled) father to the pub for an evening meal (5pm). As we walked in to this supposed 'family' pub the regulars said 'this isn't a kindergarden'. We ignored as we'd been there for family meals a few times. Then as my wife was paying - yes unfortunately we paid, I was playing with my son, and he was laughing. They started to complain about the noise (He was giggling - BTW my son had been as good as gold the entire hour we were there). Then I could see the group of regulars were getting aggressive with my wife and calling our son 'it' and complaining about the 'noise' so I went over and asked them to be less confrontational and respectful .
I mentioned to them that this is a family pub. This is when it escalated and one of the regulars got up saying did I want to take it outside.... etc. He then proceeded to square up to me in front of my kid, wife and the entire pub calling me a C**T. We then took a swing and attempted to grab me by the throat whilst being held back. Unbelievable.
The pub apologised but then let them continue to drink! then they apologised to the individuals who were getting aggressive. Yes the aggressive man who tried to attack me. Yes the management actually apologised to them...
So we left thinking that the owners of the pub prefer drunk, aggressive, violent punters to families that have come for a few drinks and some food.
Embarrassing for the establishment. We wouldn't have blamed them if they had taken the decision to eject the drunk man... but they apologised to him...
They kept telling us it was a family pub to us but then seemed to be happy that these people drink there. I can guarantee that Saturday, sunday's and probably most week nights these...

We booked nearly 10 days in advance for the 50% off deal and to have an outdoor table. My wife is veggie and we were looking forward to their plant burger.
When we sat down, we were there 10 minutes before having to get up and ask whether they had the plant burger, because the menu on the website is different from the menu you are given. Apparently, the plant burger is super popular as they had ārun outā - begs the question if veggie options are so popular, why dont they stock more?
It would not really be a problem if there were actually any other veggie options on the menu, but all they had was some weird goats cheese moose.
Anyway, you would have thought in what was meant to be this pubās busiest week opening with the Rishi deal, they would have thought ahead.
In the end we just walked out as we had not even been approached for a drinks order, nor had the lady who said theyād run out offered up and alternatives.
I live round the corner and have to say, first impressions were not great - we just walked home after no dinner, no service, no ability to book anywhere else.
What a wasted opportunity to wow locals. Will wait for the Telegraph to open from a pub group that can show Youngs how to build an exciting menu and run a...

The young lady that served us was, for the most part, friendly and efficient. The bone of contention will follow shortly.
My wife ordered several side dishes and chips, which she enjoyed.
My son in law to possibly be, š¤£š¤£, had sausages and mash which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Now, here comes the ahhhh in my daughter and I's shared meal. We thought we'd have a ploughman's from the shared meals section on the menu. It was inadequate to say the least and if we hadn't ordered chips with it, it would have been a light snack. The sausage roll however was delicious, just wee and the amount of cheese on the platter enough for one person. Now here comes the bone of contention... it was advertised on the menu that it came with a pork pie. Ours did not, it came with a scotch egg that was cooked well but not as filling as a pork pie nor did the waitress or the chef inform us that we were not getting our much loved pork pie. Not impressed at the meal or the price.
We had a nice time together and we would go back but I wouldn't recommend the Ploughman shared...
