I wanted to really like this place. I love an afternoon tea and I ordered one by this place over covid for my husbands birthday, which was great. I wanted somewhere to meet my friends locally. Unfortunately we were let down. I organised my sisters baby shower here for ten people. I was told there was a ÂŁ5pp none refundable deposit, which was fine and seemed acceptable and understandable. What wasnât explained was that if one of our party didnât turn up, for whatever reason, they would be charged the whole cost of the afternoon tea. One of the girls works at the hospital and had a bad night and didnât feel up to making the tea. It wasnât that she just didnât bother and it wasnât as though we all cancelled leaving the tea room out of pocket. What I found really hard to swallow, so to speak, was the fact that there was no compromise on this. I explained that as the person didnât come, there would be no drinks consumed and I was happy to pay cost price (which letâs face it, prob wouldnât be much more than the ÂŁ5 deposit, not ÂŁ23 for an afternoon tea) Even charging me the cost of a take-away tea which is ÂŁ17.50 would have been a meet in the middle way, but nothing was an option. Itâs a real shame as I would have come back and recommended as the ladies were helpful in decorating for the baby shower etc. Unfortunately, we wonât be...

The menu has the usual assortment of coffees and teas, alongside soft drinks and milkshakes. Food-wise there was a nice thorough selection of sandwiches and paninis. I opted for the cheese and red onion panini, which was plentiful, especially when eaten with the complimentary crisps.
My partner wanted a prawn cocktail sandwich but with a few additions, all of which were obliged by the chatty friendly staff.
The cake selection has you covered with: chocolate fudge, red velvet (which I can confirm is delicious), carrot cake and Victoria sponge.
There is only table service as one of a few distancing measures, so they ask that you wait by the entrance before being seated.
In all, this little café in Old Bexley was a quaint and pleasant way to spend an afternoon out. The prices were reasonable, where two coffees, two sandwiches/paninis and a cake came to approximately fifteen pounds.
We shall be visiting again and I recommend you stop by if you are...

The starter was unusual but actually my favourite part delicious salad & sausage. There was a little wait between courses and I went to the bathroom and saw the owner making up the sandwiches which I thought was strange as she had already catered for them âŠ. The sandwiches were plenty and varied , cut into triangles with the crust left on. Scones were shop bought and had been microwaved which made them very doughy. Cakes were again shop bought carrot loaf cake and a selection of shop bought biscuits , mini bites and chocolate buttons so not exactly sure how much catering had gone on apart from opening a few packets. The table was laid nicely and plenty of tea , the young man who served us was pleasant and helpful and we werenât rushed. I personally wouldnât go again for afternoon tea but if you want coffee and cake there was a good selection of homemade looking cakes on the counter just not for the afternoon...
