I regret to say that our recent reservation at the Village Hotel Bexley was extremely disappointing. The experience was marred by a significant issue that left us stranded in the middle of the night.|After an enjoyable evening out, we returned to the hotel at 12.20 am only to find that we could not get the external door open via the key card we were given, as we found out later the door had been locked from the inside. Despite repeated attempts, the door would not budge. We immediately contacted the hotel and were put in touch with the owner, 'Lucky'. He assured us that he would be there in 10 minutes to resolve the issue.|However, 10 minutes turned into 20, then 30, and then 40. Despite our repeated calls and increasing frustration standing out in the cold, Lucky continued to tell us he would be there in "another 10 minutes". It became apparent that he had no intention of coming to help us.|My wife’s medication was in the room, and she needed to take them that evening, he was not interested, kept saying he would be there in 10 minutes. An hour later and it was clear he had no intention in coming out to assist.|As a result, we were forced to find alternative accommodation at 1.15am in the morning. This not only disrupted our night but also left us feeling deeply disappointed, distressed and let down by the hotel's management.|The next morning, we returned to the hotel and explained our predicament to the receptionist, making it clear that we expected a full refund. She contacted the owner ‘Lucky’, as she did not have the authority but he refused to speak with us, leaving us feeling completely disregarded and disrespected.|The lack of responsiveness and accountability from the hotel's management was shocking and unacceptable. This experience left a sour taste, and we would strongly advise against staying at the Village Hotel Bexley. The way this situation was handled shows a complete lack of concern for guests and their well-being, and we urge the management to take customer service more seriously in the future.|We did get a refund, less the booking fee, but no apology for the inconvenience or any concern for our wellbeing, didn’t care where we did stay, or about my wife’s health.|Also as a footnote, I am sure there should be a member of staff on duty or in the establishment at night to ensure customers safety re fire risk, for example under the ‘Occupiers Liability Act...
Read moreI spent four nights here last weekend while visiting family and I really enjoyed my stay.
The room and en suite bathroom were clean and had nice decorative touches. The bed was a good size and cosy with an additional blanket if needed and plenty of pillows.
There was a kettle and tea, coffee, milk, sugar and biscuits plus water glasses and wineglasses for two.
Plenty of hangers in the wardrobe. A folding suitcase stand, iron, ironing board, hairdryer and fan.
Shampoo, shower gel, soap and a shower cap. Soft towels and bath mat. The shower worked well and the drain wasn't clogged with hair, like many hotel showers I've used.
When I requested a desk so that I could do some work, it was brought to my room straightaway. (There was a lovely dressing table in the room already but it wasn't suitable for a laptop). The WiFi connection was fine. The TV worked well. Plenty of sockets.
The staff was easy going and friendly. As promised, I got discounts on food when I ate at places in the village (and there are many, many places to eat and drink in Bexley!)
The room was located to the side of the historic building and it was remarkably quiet, despite the busy high street out the front.
All in all, this is a great place to stay. I will stay here...
Read moreI had a bit of trepidation after reading some of the reviews on here, but I needn't have worried. We needed to stay a night in Bexley as we were attending a party. The bigger hotels were a bit of a way out of the centre, and this one was ideal for the railway station.||Anyway, it's a quirky little place and was clearly once a pub, so it's a listed building with lots of funny little architectural quirks. ||The owner met us when we arrived and sorted out our keys and gave us information about local eateries where they offer discount for guests. The lobby was clean and welcoming.||Our room was super clean and well appointed. Two thin pillows and two thick pillows which really pleased us as we have very different pillow needs! A king size bed (very comfortable), tea and coffee facilities, toiletries and a lovely hot shower.||We were overlooking the High Street, but as we didn't get back until 2am, we certainly weren't bothered by any noise, and there was no noise on the Sunday morning when we woke up.||Check out was simple and we dropped our keys in the box before leaving.||We have recommended this hotel to friends who may need to stay in the area, and we will certainly...
