Trust me, I would not have left a Star if I didn't have to because I received the most horrible hospitality here! I am by nature, a very personable type of person so I know that it was not about my attitude - I went into the restaurant, open minded, happy, and positive. I love Turkish food, and get on with all people no matter what they look like, their cultural background, etc. However, the following happened to me.
There were two women - one dressed more office like and the other woman had her long hair tied back in a ponytail. It was the woman with the ponytail who served me, and she was most unfriendly - she never cracked a smile once! I also had the distinct feeling that she was prejudiced - racist towards black people. She was friendly to all of the "white people" who came in after me, or those seated at tables, but to me, she looked as if she was chewing a wasp! It seemed as if it was too much trouble for her to serve me, I felt rushed even though there was no one else waiting to be served. When a couple came into the shop after me, sensing her hostility - I told her that she could serve them first and believe me when I tell you that she speedily moved on to them, with a smile! In the end I just settled for a Chicken Kebab with some salad in a Pitta Bread so I didn't need to ask her any further questions about the selection of dishes displayed. This was my first ever visit to this place on my way home from work and I absolutely hated it! In the end, I could not wait to get out of that hostile place and will not go back there! The food wasn't even tasty! The Pitta bread that she gave me tasted stale, was dry, and it broke up in my hand when I ate it at home. I should have gone to 'Jamaican Cuisine' Restaurant just around the corner where I'd have received top class customer service from Roy and the team, or Papaya, or any other restaurant in Ruislip Manor! Sorry but that is how I felt, extremely disappointed and upset when I left that awful place! I wonder if that horrible woman was being ironic when she had the cheek to say to me: "enjoy your meal!" as I left. I should have asked for my money back and left. In my opinion, one of the the best places closeby for a kebab is Kebabish in South Harrow. Although I don't enjoy the area of South Harrow very much these days, the Kebabish restaurant staff are always polite, warm, friendly and welcoming to their customers, even if they are new ones. Kebabbish advise about their menu, and their food is absolutely delicious! I'll never forget that awful Manor Mangol place! Never! SMH! I ain't going back there, no bleedin' way, no how!...
Read moreWe have been getting regular takeaway from Mangals for many years but decided to visit the restaurant with our friends. Food and Service was absolutely excellent. Could not fault it at all.
Food portions were generous, the home made sauces really complimented the lamb and chicken donor kebabs. Unlike other Turkish restaurants the Donor Kebabs were not at all greasy and grilled to perfection. Freshly baked bread was served on the side so as not to become soggy.
The restaurant has a rustic ambience making one feel like you are eating in a restaurant in Istanbul.
Staff were attentive and always smiling. I get the feeling it’s a family run business which for me made it even more special.
The restaurant offers a fully stocked bar. Our friends who accompanied us thoroughly enjoyed the food and said they would...
Read moreAVOID THIS PLACE!!! After ordering a mixed grill for 3 we askedif they could swap rice for chips , the waitress bluntly told us not possible. Not letting this bother us we then ordered drinks which arrived in a dirty glass with black remnants of something..no apology for the unclean glass. It just got worse after that , food arrived and the chicken wings were uncooked, when we showed it to the first waiter, he called someone else who came and checked and then a third 'chef' came out and stubbornly refused to acknowledge that the chicken was uncooked. I can't imagine that any chef would agree that the chicken ( see pic attached) has been cooked....
