Khin Lee — Restaurant in London

Our first time dining here. Saturday evening. The place is busy. We have booked a table for five. Round tables ... great. This place really, really needs to introduce some soft furnishing into the restaurant. What a cacophony! So much echoing and reverberation (on top of a screaming child). We really had to speak up to have any kind of conversation. Obviously, if everyone has to do the same ...

Four menus placed on the table for five people. All the menus folded back up and placed back on the table. We're ready to order. No one has taken a drinks order nor does anyone notice that we're ready to order for 5-6 minutes.

Food and drinks ordered. Drinks don't arrive. Re-order drinks with another waitress.

Plum sauce arrives. Cucumber and spring onions arrive. 1/4 crispy duck arrives. No pancakes. We have to ask for them. 1/4 duck seems a lot smaller than we think it should be. Insufficient quantity of cucumber.

There is no dipping sauce that comes with the chicken dumplings. Why?!?! At LEAST have soy sauce on the table. We resign ourselves to stealing the peanut sauce that came with the satay and what was left of the plum sauce from the crispy duck.

Tha main dishes (chicken black bean sauce, fried chicken Singapore style, king prawns with garlic) lacked character. The "spicy" dishes were not spicy. The Singapore vermicelli had an area of great spiciness and an area of no spiciness. The egg fried rice was just too bland.

I know they were busy but the service should nonetheless have been much, much better. Honestly, I don't think any of us would go there again. Nor would we...

The used to go to Khin Lee frequently but it's been about 10 years since I went so I decided to take my Dad there for Father's Day yesterday. The food was just like what I remembered but the customer service was horrendous and they added an extra £10 per person for the buffet. It's like they kept forgetting our order and people who entered the restaurant after us was getting their food before us. Each time I would call someone to check on our order they'll say I'll go back and investigate and just wouldn't give an update. Then when it came time to finish up, I asked for a container so I could bag the rest of the food up that wasn't finished and I was told I can't do that?! These times I saw a few other tables scraping their leftovers into those same containers we had requested. The only thing they were speedy on was the bill and I don't like...

I have been ordering from khin lee for over 7 years and rarely complain. On this occasion im am extremely annoyed to be told by staff, not to order something i have eaten my entire time of ordering from them. I am appalled with the customer service and appalled at the response when complaining that the crispy beef was hard and too chewy, to the point u have a tooth ache. I ordered a drink because my shop closes early, which they missed off the order. Again not the first time but i never complained as i enjoy the food. From previous complaints of messing up large orders, i accepted alternatives as compensation. This time i did not want compensation but kindly asked that they sort this on going issue out. To be told dont order again. PROMISE I WILL NEVER ORDER FROM YOU AGAIN....your lucky I can't sue you for the amount my family and I have spent...
