Kim Klan — Restaurant in London

Being a lover of ramen, I was quite excited to learn that a Japanese restaurant had just opened up a few meters from where I live. Sadly, that enthusiasm faded when I came here. It's a relatively new establishment so the place looked nice. However, the menu is somewhat confused and in my experience, a good Asian restaurant does best when it focuses on just one type of dish and does it well. I came here for lunch and Kim Klan offers a hot lunch box menu selection of noodles, rice, curry and other dishes. This is similar to the type of food you'd see at one of those Chinese Buffet restaurants you'd find in Chinatown. I've nothing against that, but it's not what I expected based on the menu/advertising. Wanting ramen, I ordered ramen and it was rather 'flat'. The broth wasn't overly flavoursome and I was wholly unimpressed (the egg was hard-boiled, not cooked on the outside and oozing yoke!). I spoke briefly to a man I think was the manager and he indicated that they would soon be doing sushi (they might have this by now). Although I've not tried the sushi, herein lies my concern with the place; it seems to be doing too many different Asian foods and failing to make any one particularly memorable. If I'm in the mood for a quick Wasabi-style 'dirty Chinese', I may well come here but it seems to me a wasted opportunity considering it's supposed to be a Japanese restaurant. Worst costumer service! After ordering food I waited 2 hours, then my order got cancelled. Next day I decided to reorder the food as their menu looked tasty however I decided to call the restaurant beforehand to ask if my food would be delivered this time as I am hungry and do not wish to wait 2 hours for then my order to be cancelled. MAN ON THE PHONE BLAMED ME! Saying that if I chose cheap option for my food to be delivered then I get cheap result (ordered through just eat). Man was completely delusional, I had to talk over him as he was not listening to me. He literally told me that it was my fault that I ordered food. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT. Terrible staff! I was super skeptical after ordering and seeing the reviews for this place. However I am more than impressed! The food was delicious fresh and definitely authentic, which is hard to find in London as most restaurants change recipes to cater to English peoples taste.

I received all of my order. Everything was packaged correctly and there was no spillage. Portions were large too so definitely got my moneys worth. I made sure to order the Sichuan Hanon-Cantonese dishes as it seemed to be their specialty and I was right to do so.

The star of the show had to be the sea bass cooked in soup for me. My stomach is happy and I will be ordering from here again soon. I don’t write reviews often but this one...
