This is the 3rd time i've been to this restaurant since it was taken over (lock stock and barrel) from the previous owners. I have lived in this area for 30 years and La Luna has always been a favourite, both "eat in & takeaway".........i thought the new owners would have a few teething problems but even my dentist would disagree!!!!!!!
We were seated and because we were so hungry, we ordered a hot starter to share.....a bowl of approximately 2 mushrooms, flavoured with garlic and swimming in oil.....(£4.90).we asked for bread and were told that "bread is £1.50"......thats fine!!!! (by the way, the menu says freshly baked ciabatta)......the bread was dry and stale. We asked for some butter. (£1.00)..........by the time the butter came, the mushrooms had given up the ghost and drowned in the oil......stone bloody cold.......we ordered our main, but were "hassled " into trying the "specials" (basically i thought they were trying to palm us off with leftovers)..........we ordered the vulcanica and a chicken dish......a glass of wine and 1 beer...............(YES, the wine and beer came after our starter????)...........I was so dis-enamoured by the lack of courtesy at this point. i popped outside to say hello to a friend and on my return, the staff (5 of them) said that they had no pineapple to garnish my pizza!!!!!.......I then asked if i could pay for the starter, cancel the chicken dish and have the pizza to go......we were not happy!!!!!!!!!........and here comes the warning!!!!!!............They told us that we "MUST PAY FOR ALL OF THE THINGS WE HAD ORDERED"......despite the fact that the service was rubbish, depite the fact that the bread was not (homebaked), despite the fact that the restaurant was empty.......despite the fact that the bread was stale...despite the fact that we had already complained about the starter...........WE DID NOT EVEN RECEIVE AN APOLOGY!!!!!!.........i had to stand my ground with a belligerent member of staff who said " i didn't serve your table" and proceeded to charge me for food that was not even ready for consumption ..........i refused to pay for the mains, she then snatched the full glass of wine from me and said she would charge me for just the starter and the drinks....................i didn't even get to drink the wine.....I should have just walked out but my loyalty to "La Luna" (as it was) stopped me!!!!.......I was dumbfounded by the total lack of the "OLD"..........I paid my bill!!!!!!!........whoever is reading this, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!............p.s if you are looking for "freshly caught seafood".........look at their kitchen, they are so accommodating, i'm sure they won't mind a guided tour !!!!!!!????????.....p.p.s.......as happy customers, we still receive christmas cards form the PREVIOUS owners........P.P.S the first 2 times were also a shambles but we thought they just had teething...

We visited on a Sunday, which was quieter than usual, but the warm ambiance and attentive service made it a perfect dining experience.
We started with the Traditional Bruschetta, a simple yet flavorful classic that set the tone for the meal. For mains, my partner had the Linguine alle Vongole, a beautifully balanced dish with fresh clams, olive oil, garlic, chili, and white wine. I opted for the Gamberoni al Aglio—six succulent king prawns cooked in a fragrant garlic, lemon, chili, and white wine sauce, served with pasta. Every bite was bursting with fresh, bold flavors, proving that La Luna prioritises quality ingredients and authentic preparation.
The food was absolutely delicious, the portions were generous, and the flavors were spot on. It’s clear that everything is made fresh to order, which makes all the difference. I haven’t tried their pizza yet, but after this experience, I’ll definitely be back to do so.
If you’re looking for an authentic Italian restaurant that delivers on taste and quality, La Luna is a must-visit. Highly...
Read moreAs great as ever. As a long-time Walworth resident and very happy La Luna customer, I was dismayed when I read the recent Google review suggesting that La Luna had changed hands and gone rapidly downhill. I decided to visit as soon as I could, and was relieved to discover that (aside from a new improved pizza oven, the addition of some fresh desserts, and a coat of paint) everything that is great about La Luna remains the same - including the good food, the friendly owners and the long-standing staff. I don't usually post online reviews but I know how important an online reputation is to a small neighbourhood restaurant like this, how much hard work goes into building a loyal customer base, and how a few bad reviews can stop new people discovering and enjoying a local treasure. Long...
