La Maison Highbury — Restaurant in London

A sweet cafe, packed and very buzzy, a minute from Highbury Fields and 3 mins walk from Highbury and Islington tube. Today there were so many children, dogs, people with prams and children's scooters everywhere it was a bit overwhelming. A very nice blonde girl was clearing tables but of the many staff members there no-one opening the door when people were struggling in with kids and prams or helping you get a table. You stand in line and hope there may be a table free when you've managed to place your order so in that respect it feels more like a staff canteen. The pastries were ok but not fantastic, the hot chocolate too sweet and synthetic, Cadbury's drinking chocolate taste. The staff looked flustered and although pleasant they didn't go the extra mile. I was hoping for much more after reading the many glowing reviews. I'd summarise; ok but not especially memorable. Would I go again, yes maybe but I...

Love this vibrant coffee shop so much I've currently made it part of my daily ritual. Perfect location in a quiet side street, beautiful terrace and corner spot which means plenty of windows...so plenty of light even on rainy days 🙏 The coffee is delicious, and good choice of fresh food. Add to that an inspiring atmosphere, a combination of relaxing loungy music and the warm and welcoming team. Even when you extend your hours soaking in the positive vibes, they never make you feel you ought to make a move, there's a lot of kindness and community spirit, which makes it a firm favourite amongst the clearly loyal locals...

La Maison is such a gem! I came on a sunny Sunday. It’s perfectly located just away from the hussle of the main road. Took me some time to decide what to eat because everything looked so tasty. I had a sausage roll which was really tasty! Well seasoned meat and flakey pasty - what’s not to love! I also got the lemon drizzle cake which was super moist and also the pistachio pain au choc which was insane. Super flakey pasty and really lovely chocolate centre.The staff are lovely and made us feel welcome. I can’t wait to come back and try some of the other sweet...
