I had heard good things about this restaurant from my colleagues as it was just a 5 min walk from the hotel that we are staying in. Although when we first came in till the time we had ordered until the moment we left the restaurant we felt the service was just below average. Food taste was generally good, albeit a little bit oily but that seems to be the norm in most Chinese restaurants. I'm Chinese myself so food expectations were generally met although I wouldn't say it's the best I've eaten. However I would like to add that the price point is really too expensive even for standard London city prices. I've had cheaper restaurants in the actual city itself, bear in mind this restaurant is near the Heathrow airport which is the outskirts of the city. Also, the food portion is way too small for the price we are paying. We ended up paying £55 for only two of us girls. Also one thing to note, when I asked for the bill I got the bill with just a £55 written on the paper with no list of what I ordered and how much. I had to ask for an itemized bill and she calculated the bill for me the old school way by punching the numbers on her calculater going thru every single item that we had ordered. Which I thought was rather amusing. Would have been much more efficient to give me an itemized bill from the start rather than a rounded figure on a piece of paper. At the end I would rate this this experience as a 3 star. Food was average tasty, pricing expensive, small portions and lots more of room for improvement in terms of service! I would not really come back again unless I was really starving and out of options.

This is a traditional Hong Kong style restaurant and it stands to its name. The cuisine indeed is very authentic and yes there is MSG because that is how people in China eat and anything aside from that is not authentic! I have never heard of a MSG epidemic in China...lol. Anyone who complains about the cleanliness, or the quality, taste or portion of the food simply think that they overpaid. This is type of seafood restaurants aren't cheap even in Hong Kong. Personally I think the cost is very reasonable. So if you don't want to pay the coin, go to a small Chinese take out place where you will get even more MSG. The portion of dishes are just right, if you want to share you can get the share menu (depend on the amount of people in the party) and they will adjust, it is just like catering. I had a few simple but tricky dishes, where a non-authemtic place could mess it up completely. The Chinese sweet and sour pork is not the typical thick breaded sugar vinegar with red dye sauce, it is actually the fatty pork flashed fried with pineapple and peppers, the monks delight was cooked with actual fermented tofu sauce, wow. The beef soup reminds me of home. Need I say more? In summary, if you have no idea what authentic Chinese food is, have no money, or allergic to MSG, don't come here! Also for people who likes spicy food like people from northern and central China, this type of cruisin is not for you either. Aside from that, thumbs up! Do try the roast duck. Superb!

Years ago when it opened it was excellent. It's been more then 5 years since my last visit and the food has taken a massive nose dive. The dim sum selection is minimal, that in itself wouldn't be a problem, if it was good but it's not. Pretty much everything taste like they have bought in cheap frozen products from the Chinese supermarket and just cooked it. The har gow and sui mai are really poor. The Har gow has a super strong bamboo shoot taste and smell to it. Beyond the poor quality the quantity and price is even worse. Most dim sum restaurants serve 4 pieces per pot for har gow and sui mai but they serve only 3 here and charge even more then Royal China oh and there still the 10% service charge to add on. The other dishes served were also very small for the price charged. The Beef ho fun was super oily and the beef slices had a metallic taste this is usually indicative of over use of bicarbonate of soda to tendering the meat or insufficient rinsing to remove the soda after tenderising. The service and staff were perfectly friendly and efficient, it's a shame the kitchen has fallen to such a low level. To be frank the food produced is what I would consider local Chinese take away quality food, catering to western taste, which is fine if that is what you are looking for.

Tonight I had the most appalling dinner experience of my entire life and in the UK!!!! I was with a group of investors all from African countries including myself even if I have very light skin tone. I have to say this like it happened. We were four and as the other 2 colleagues sat down, the older chinese lady waitress showed visible discontent for the amount of time taken to place the orders which was really 5 mins then left our table upset without saying anything. Then comes this Chinese waiter guy immediately as if to speed things up, and who to Brits standards was plain Rude to my colleagues. He kept urging us to order. When asked about the wine selection, he kept mentioning that she had to order the bottle as if ordering a wine glass never existed before. My colleague asked to remove the chicken from the rice for more eggs as she does not eat chicken, but the owner/waiter obsessed about the effort that it will take them to do this, plus the fact that it will cost her more, and that the portion will stay the same, despite my colleague repeatedly explaining that this is what she wants no matter the cost. This conversation went on for a solid 5mins. //Somehow, the complex and rocket science information did not sink in a typical Chinese brain I guess and my colleague just gave up as he kept insisting//. Then back is the Chinese lady, who abruptly announces that there was a charge of £40/table or £10/person when one of the ladies decided not to place any food order but would have drinks. This was never shared with us before sitting down. This is written no where. When one of us challenged it, she tried to show us a small print on the menu which do not reflect at all the sudden made up rule.

I felt more than uncomfortable. They made us feel unwanted, and made it so difficult for us to place orders. I felt sorry for my colleagues for being treated so poorly and unfairly. I was shocked. I was appalled. I had no words.

We decided to cancel the orders and leave.

I realised that no matter the discrimination I possibly have faced before was nothing in comparison to what black people face and here especially by the Chinese people in the UK who think of themselves as superior to African people. I say this factually as I was treated differently when I went to this exact same restaurant the night before and on my own. Trying to order a meal tonight was excruciatingly painful.

Shame on you!

Look at yourself in the mirror and let me remind you that you are immigrants too, not white, working shifts and serving people. If you cannot intergrate properly into the UKs culture, have manners, learn simple English, and can't handle multicoloured customers, go back to your beautiful China!!

Also the portions are tiny, you are served in a small plate so you don't realise that the portions are smaller, and the price is too expensive for what you get. When my food arrived the previous day, I thought that i ordered the wrong meal or that they gave me a lunch menu or kid's meal.

All in all don't waste your time or...

Thoroughly awful in all respects. We visited London Hong Kong on Sunday evening (1 October 2017) with our two daughters (5 and 9). The restaurant was quite with only one other table occupied. No smiles or warm welcome as we were promptly escorted to our table. The waitress pushed us to order Chinese tea for our daughters which on it own was not significant. We then ordered from the main menu noticing that the price of Chinese Seasonal Greens was cheaper than their 'specials' card. The roast meat plate (~£11) was extremely small. The limited portion of BBQ duck was tough. The duck was also small and full of bones. The most serious complaint we had was the seafood crispy noodle. The prawns stunk to high heaven and had obviously gone bad. One of the attendants changed the plate - which was much better. When the bill was presented there was no breakdown of the cost. They provided a breakdown which exposed that we had been over charged for the Chinese seasonal greens and also the tea. The manager (lady) brought multiple menus to the table and tried to argue that the price had changed. Thankfully our waitress had the integrity to support our view that our original menu had not been 'manually' updated. I asked for the service to be removed and this request was respected. And yes, despite being served a bad plate of seafood crispy noodle they still expected us to pay for it!. We left feeling disappointed about the quality of the food (my wife is of Chinese origin) and feeling that the restaurant had attempted to extort money from us at every opportunity without any need to demonstrate value through cuisine or service. There are many better alternatives that we...
