An average local curry joint with potential that just falls short. Service is good but the food needs work and requires more co district across the menu. SERVICE We went without a reservation for Friday night dinner and were seated quickly. Wait staff were attentive and friendly and tried their best. No complaints on service. FOOD Overall my feeling is we ordered the wrong dishes as some it was really good and others not so much. Starters (4*) easily the best part of the meal. We started with a complimentary chicken ball (see pics) which was very tasty and presented uniquely like a fine dining restaurant, a good start. We then ordered a combo of mixed tandoori grills, onion bhaji, and papadums. All were pretty good. The accompanying chutnies were ok. Not a good sign when the green coriander chutney is bright green. Mains (2*) this is where the food fell down a bit. We ordered lamb achari, chicken sathkora, vegetable vindaloo, daal, naan and aubergine side. I would not recommend the achari and sathkora. Flavour was lacking in both and would definitely not order again. The vindaloo had a nice kick and was the best of the mains. Daal, naan, and aubergine were average not amazing. For a family that will usually polish most food off there was a lot of food left at the end of dinner. The vindaloo was spicy even for my folks. Can't blame the restaurant as it's the nature of the dish, and I loved it, but we did get some raita to neutralise. What came out was some form of clumpy yogurt. I can't really describe it but it wasn't good. Not regular not Greek and definitely not raita. All in all I will come again based on starters and other reviews to try other dishes.

My first visit to Maharani Restaurant was absolutely brilliant. From the moment I walked in, I was welcomed with warm smiles and great energy from the friendly staff. They were courteous, attentive, and made sure I was well looked after throughout my meal. I started with the popadom, which was crisp and fresh, the perfect way to begin. For the main course, I had the tandoori chicken along with the chef’s special, both bursting with flavour and beautifully presented. The portions were generous, in fact, more than I could finish! The overall experience was fantastic and excellent food, wonderful service, and a lively atmosphere. I’ll definitely be going again with my family and kids and would highly recommend Maharani to anyone looking for a great dining experience.

Nice modern decor & atmosphere, very friendly staff but sadly flavourless curries. I got the king prawn korai (£12 or 13) as a treat and was disappointed. Prawns were chewy and the gravy was quite watery, had no flavour whatsoever. Korai was bulked out with big chunks of onions, no tomato or peppers. Prawn puree and other mains (lamb Naga too) also lacked flavour. Rice also seemed to lack quality. It's a shame as that's what you want in a curry - a deep rich flavour but we didn't get it here.

Local business so we thought we would give this place another try. Impromptu last minute booking. Tried to get a table for 6pm but was asked if we could turn up 15 mins earlier. Not a problem. Got to the restaurant, it was empty. Waiting staff were very attentive and welcoming. Food arrived promptly and we didn't have to wait long for drinks. My lamb achari was delicious and I did ask for it with a bit more spice. My son had a prawn masala. It was bright red! As an Asian,I find this off putting. There is no need to colour food. During our meal the restaurant was 80% empty so we can only guess they must be busy with takeout orders. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated. Not an unpleasant experience but may not be in such a rush...
