Service behind bar poor, reason being inexperienced barmaid left on her own to cope when it required two team members. An experienced person should have noticed the problem with the beer coming out to foamy (gas problem). The food ordered was missing the item as stated on their menu. Mentioned to

staff member who went to kitchen, came back stating the item was sold out. Surely we should have been informed before the food arrived. Was offered to select another item after the food was delivered to the table. Ordered two desserts, waited and waited (20 minutes), and had to ask staff member whether we were forgotten. Ye Olde Black Horse is a very old traditional English pub with all the necessary “modernisations” for it to operate safely in the ongoing pandemic. We sat at a table at the rear of the spacious garden, where there was a welcoming shaded area won a day when the temperature was around 30°C. It was easy to down and install the Greene King app on my phone, and equally easy to order and pay for drinks which were promptly brought to the table. Used to go here "in my youth" so it holds a little nostalgia for me, and I've rediscovered it in the past year or so and my experience has been positive.

Recently went on a very busy Friday night with football on, wanted to get a bite to eat and there were no tables free. I asked (in hope) if I could eat at the bar, fully expecting to be refused, but was pleasantly surprised when I was told that it would be fine.
